Try the Porsche dealer. Porsche NA might cover it because it is very odd. I know in the past they at least covered all the parts when the top mechanism failed on my 1997 Boxster. A car I had bought used from a private party.

Good luck!

Appeal to them. Your problem is something that should never have happened and would seem to be a design fault because it did happen. There was a term the dealer used when they said they would ask Porsche North America as to what they were willing to do. I don't recall exactly because this was over ten years ago, but it was something like customer consideration. Porsche NA agreed to provide over a $1000 in parts. I paid the labor. They replaced the entire mechanics for raising and lowering the top. A quick guess as to your problem is that the mechanics on one side stopped and kept going on the other? Does the top go up and down now without the window?

Good will?

I seem to remember the term "good will" being used when describing when a manufacturer pays part/all of a repair bill outside of warranty.

i am pursing that approach with POrsche NA as we speak.

Also checking for local parts and/or replacement

the top has a little normal wear and tear and honestly if i could get the glass replaced w/o an insurance claim for a few 100 I would do it.

that being said, i am also looking at FS items to replace the top.

Thanks
