the 981 as poetry
blazon - Monday, 9 September, 2013, at 9:17:00 am
a car that's got just seven speeds
to satisfy our varied greeds
1, 2 will get us rolling
the seventh highway strolling
the rest will blow you in the weeds.

you should write a poem to your car if you really love her...the limerick form, above, will do fine

i'll have the S if you don't mind
another 10? i'm still inclined
i love those reddish brakes
the plexiglass that shakes
at seven eight, i'm redefined.

Listen my children and you shall hear
of the midnight drive of Paul...
Oops, sorry, wrong poem

How about...

Roses are red
Violets are blue
and the 981?...
it's a Boxster too.!

Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar

"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting" ... Steve McQueen as Michael Delaney in "LeMans"

"If you wait, all that happens is that you get older"... Mario Andretti

"Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose" ... Ayrton Senna

Ode to the Boxster

A car with which it is that you don't want to mess,
Save for those with a bad IMS.
Those who are lucky and only do keep
A Rear Main Seal from which oil that doesn't much seep.

The handling and prestige do indeed others impress,
Especially when they equate one's car with success.
It is therefore far better to have a P-car with its much smaller mass,
Than to be seen in a BMW and have others think you're an ass.

The current crop of Porsches leave me a bit cold,
If I may may offer this opinion so bold.
For when I drive them, I think that I find,
A sports car company that has lost some of its original sporting inclined mind.

Instead they are lovely to see, fabulous to sit,
Except when writing the cheque, it would cause me a fit.
So only for the moment just now and to not cause much of a mix
I think I'll shut my gob and drive my nine-eighty-six.
I agree, even as I have one. Just ain't the same! *NM*

As a pure outside observer now, I find the newer an bigger Boxsters not quite right. In fact a buddy of mine has has original '98 with 16" wheels and it looks absolutley tiny compared to the 981 and yet still has more payload.

Maybe someday I'll get a 2.5 survivor for cheap and keep my fingers crossed.
