I was at my Porsche indy today getting an alignment and they had a very new Audi S4 up on the rack. The tech pulled the bumper off and called all of us over to see what he found. The silver bumper/crash bar (?) showed clear evidence of bending and mashing by a mallet. They obviously modified this bar to get the bumper to fit !!! It was very obvious. We all had a good laugh at German precision engineering. Like they say, you don't want to see sausage being made. The issue the tech was working on had nothing to do with this bar.

The other tech pulled out a cool Finish-made tool to show us. He found it buried inside a Boxster when he was prepping a new arrival at a dealer where he worked. More chuckling.

Peace

You wonder if the crash bar had to be 'modified' to meet our US DOT standards.....vs whatever they are using in Europe - could be different bumper covers, but same frame below. Odd.

Glad they are mechanics and not surgeons. New kidney not fitting in place, where's that dang hammer?
