... first with PB Blaster (penetrating) then with WD-40 (water displacement) and finally spray it with a Teflon spray lubricant.

I originally used the white lithium grease, but found that it would pick up a lot of dirt and grime.
Switched to teflon lubricant and now the shaft remains cleaner.

I had a squeak at start up all last year. My belt is less than 2 years old and didn't exhibit the noise when installed (nor did the old belt). I've checked WP and tensioner pulleys but didn't find anything amiss. I even put the old belt on but still heard the noise.
As this topic has come up lately, I thought I'd investigate again. Lately, I have not heard the noise when I start the car. The only difference is that it has been unseasonably cold here in Northwest Florida.
I'll keep listening.....
