I have a cheap scanner and I pulled a p1530 code off my 99 boxster today. Can any one tell me the meaning. The car is running near perfect, but sel is on. Thanks for any help

Are there any other codes or just that one?

I would reset the code and see if it comes back.

This code is caused by either faulty wiring or a bad VarioCam actuator but it's not worth worrying about that yet.

Thanks for the info. I will reset it. I just changed the oil and laid out the filter to inspect and it was completely clean, only 2 specs were shining. Could this have any relation to IMS starting to go. Car has 38,000 mi

Two tiny specks would be pretty normal. If the IMS is starting to go, there'd be a LOT more. As my mechanic described it, your filter would look like a star filled night on a clear night.
