That's a novel cause, and your report could save others lots of speculation should it occur. *NM*

I wrote about a week or two ago about an odd engine sound in my 997S. It was more like a white noise or fan noise. The head tech at the dealer drove it, heard it and couldn't say if it was normal or not. Well, I think it was resolved. The rubber gasket on my "clam shell" seems to have come lose and got all mangled. Part of it was wedged in the engine compartment (had to open it to remove the piece. Well, now that the gasket is off the clam shell, the engine appears to be sounding normal again. I'll wait to hold judgement until I get the new piece installed as the old one seemed to creased and mangled to reattach.
