Caliper rebuild question
Jaay - Thursday, 10 April, 2014, at 4:53:12 pm
I am at the end of my rebuild and the last piston that I am doing has some chips in the coating. Should I source a new piston or is this ok to use? I feel that it is not ok. Link to the photos

the piston. If the chip are on the portion that fits in the cylinder I'd be leery of reusing the piston.

OTOH, I do not like to reuse compromised components, especially those that are in safety critical systems. So, what is the damage to just buy a new piston?

Agreed. I am going to pick up a new one. I think they are about 25 dollars.

I ordered a new piston to play it safe. After all it is my brakes.
