They also own Quaker State and Penzoil among a few others.
This new oil base (from natural gas) will ONLY be made in Qatar.
Shell dropped it's interest in building a natural gas-to-oil plant in the Gulf Coast which was to use our very own (USA) natural gas.
It seems like a good idea because they're talking about the "base" oil being cleaner and purer to which they then add the usual additives.
You'll know if it's better when other manufacturers such as Mobil and Castrol jump on the bandwagon.
Shell has said that they will not sell their "base" to others, so others will have to build their own plants.
