Less unsprung weight may mean even better performance. Although not exactly new, they may be refined. Interesting.
I installed a composite leaf spring on a '69' Corvette back in the mid 80's and was amazed how much lighter the spring was than the steel original.

I only kept the car for a few years so have no personal knowledge over time how they hold up; I've always wondered how the plastics/composites handle sharp impacts at, especially at lower temps, over time and if it affects their longevity.
