Hi,

My 2001 Boxster S has a CDR-220 head unit. The CD player sometimes will stop playing, then show "ERROR" on the display, then finally switch over to the FM radio. This has been happening more and more lately.
Any thoughts on how to fix it? (other than replacing the head unit)

If I need to replace the head unit, what radios/players do you suggest? I'd like to keep it as stock (or as stock looking) as possible.....

thanks!
Just replace it. The going rate is around $100-150 for used one on ebay. Mine went south like yours, the used one works fine.
... that have the removable face need to have the contacts cleaned every few years.
Just pull the faceplate off and clean both sides of the contacts with a pencil erraser.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar

"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting" ... Steve McQueen as Michael Delaney in "LeMans"

"If you wait, all that happens is that you get older"... Mario Andretti

"Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose" ... Ayrton Senna
I removed the faceplate and cleaned both sides with alcohol on a swab.
Thanks for the replies.
I tried alcohol, then an eraser, and finally light sandpaper on the contacts...but no luck.
Maybe I'll take it out and try a hammer on it ;-)
Off to find a replacement.....
