2001 Base, purchased in 2004, replaced engine at 130K+, RIP 2017
There is absolutely no question that the Macan is brand-worthy. It is much closer, in performance, to a Porsche sports car than, say, the Cayenne.

I looked into one, carefully, as a possible replacement for my venerable 5 series wagon. Equipped the way I'd want it - nothing crazy, but with the right suspension - it's
$87,400 out the door, with taxes.

For me, given my summer car is my beloved 987, $90k for my winter/multi-purpose vehicle is a shade too rich. A California 2014 Allroad, loaded, with 5000 miles on it, at about half the price, fit the bill nicely. It's no Porsche (and not an SUV), but in some respects, that's not a bad thing for my daily driver. (After 18 years of BMW ownership, moving to Porsche's sister brand took a bit of willpower. Guenter had great luck with his Audi's; I'm hoping for the same.)

Back to the Macan - Porsche has sold all it can build, well into 2015.

And when they introduce the non-S, they'll sell even more. Good for them; good for us - it will help keep the brand healthy, alive, and uniquely Porsche.
