At the end of the article, the author gives his opinion as to why older Porsches are starting to gain so much in value.

Good observation concerning Porsches.

Porsche has somehow almost always straddled the quotidian vs. exotic car chasm. It might be analogous, say, to Audio Research being between Pioneer and some near one-off component built by a Zen master. Decades of winning races all over the world doesn't hurt, either.
