Expect the best, and accept no substitute.
I have recently moved to an area of California where smog test are not required bi-annually (only at sale)... making modifications a reality. The techno power kit accompanied with headers offers the potential of ~ 30 hp. On a 2.7 that is a very promising improvement (aside from the discussion of $ to HP expense).

My questions are...

What headers have people chosen and what is recommended from real experience.

Are the modifications complex or is a moderately capable person able to add the mods?

I plan to retain the existing Porsche Sport Exhaust.

thanks in advance.
Here are some headers that people have liked:

For the 2.7 and 3.2 liter engines when installing equal length headers you will also need primary cats bypass tubes, such as these:

The parts are not that difficult to install.
The TechnoPower Kit should take around 2 hours, working at a slow pace with basic tools.
The exhaust requires the vehicle to be raised since the work is done underneath and should be 2-3 hours (with no surprises).
When replacing exhaust components on older cars there is always the possibility that one or more exhaust manifold or flange bolts will break.
If that happens, the extraction of the bolt can get expensive.
When we work on replacing these parts on older cars, we liberally spray the bolts with penetrating oil such as PB Blaster and let it soak overnight.
The next morning in order to facilitate removal of the bolt, we heat the engine block with a torch while trying to keep the bolt as cold as possible by not touching it with the flame and by attaching a heat sink to the hex head.
