Porsche uses Megamos Crypto for its immobilizer. This security group published details on a serious vulnerability that can be cracked with "trivial" effort.

I quickly browsed over the video presentation. Am I correct to understand that the transmission limit of the keyfob is 2 inches ? If this is the case, eavesdropping the handshake is not a trivial task. While decryption of the key from a captured handshake might be, I feel that I would know if someone was 2 inch away from my keys to capture the data.
