Flat black for calipers?
gedwin - Tuesday, 15 February, 2011, at 10:04:49 am
I have a base boxster which had the anodized black coating. I don't like other colors, and I don't think gloss black will look good on a black car. The labels will look shiny, so maybe the answer is a flat hi-temp clear coat over gloss black (and labeled) calipers? Is there a hi-temp flat clear coat available anywhere?

I would re-anodize, but just too expensive and time consuming, since the car is a daily driver. Any suggestions?

As my calipers aged, they developed a flat black look and I didn't like it. I went with the G2 Caliper Paint kit. I think gloss black calipers are very subtle and would be a good fit on a black car. The lettering would be the most eye catching in my opinion and could be ommitted. Here are my before/after.

I used the instructions from the famous Pedro DIY section. Very detailed instructions and easy to follow.
I think gloss black would look best

a satin type finish second
i don't think matte black would look good at all. it would just look like they're really dirty.

I think the crest looks fine. It's Porsche that installed the valve stem on the wrong side of the wheel. winking smiley
I don't know about you, but my wheel crests had a mind of their own. They would always shift positions after a drive.
