Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar

"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting" ... Steve McQueen as Michael Delaney in "LeMans"

"If you wait, all that happens is that you get older"... Mario Andretti

"Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose" ... Ayrton Senna
I was a bit surprised at how long it took the Porsche to catch the Honda, But, when you consider some of the (guessed since we're not sure exactly what year / model each car was) specs.

Honda Accord about 125 HP
Porsche about 250 HP
F1 McLaren about 750 HP

Once you consider the differences in design / suspension / tires / power of the cars, the outcome doesn't really seem to be very surprising. No less amazing though.
One wonders if the staggered starts were determined by previously noted track times, thereby creating a dramatic "finish."

Minus 40 degrees... Is that Fahrenheit or Celsius?

I'm sure that was the case. I'd be extremely surprised if they had just used some arbitrary start gap.
Speaking of setups

There was an episode of Top Gear on this morning where the guys were racing to a tv studio at 59th and 11th in Manhattan. At one point they show two of the cars drag racing past the Credit Agricole building that's on 6th Avenue ("Avenue of the Americas" for you out of towners) and 52nd/53rd. The very next shot is of a GPS map showing the cars tens of blocks to the south.

There has been controversy as to how real the action was when they got chased out of that rural Alabama town, but so what: very amusing and memorable.
