Laz had mentioned seeing a Boxster recently, in an unusual light blue.

I don't know whether this is the colour he saw, but I think I like it. I suspect it's a paint-to-sample colour.

Thanks, but the one in the video looks like Gulf Blue, and not metallic. Here are the two colors that came closest to visual memory, although my recollection is for something more toward the bottom one hue-wise:

Minerva Blue

Ocean Jade Metallic

Wimbledon Green metallic.. It was a mid-to-late '90s color, and when I spec'ed my '00 Boxster S in November 1999, I remember it being available on the Boxster options list as a special order paint.

Looks like Carolina Blue (barf) to me! Why would anyone do that to an innocent Boxster? eye popping smiley

That might be Miami Blue. (Available on the 911, but not the 718 currently)

PS. Also notice they don't have GT Silver available on the 718. I think I can understand their reason for that.

To answer Mike's question, I think some people see real value in having a unique, or rare, colour. Even better, of course, if it does the car justice. winking smiley

Yup, it's nice.

When I first looked at that pic, I thought it was a 718 (the mate to the one in the video link I posted). But I quickly realized it's a 981.

The styling of the 981 can, at a minimum, hold its own against the 781. As I may have commented earlier, the 718's tweaks are changes, not necessarily evolutionary, nor improvements, just different.

Did you notice what one commenter said:

"Wow its a stick shift too...I like it " smiling smiley

OK, that does it. Miami Blue spoils the sound of that car, even if it does have a flat six. winking smiley

Maybe it's the turbo muffling the sound
Maybe be it's that Porsche has hired Camery drivers for the video shoots
Maybe it's the PDK shifting at 1,700 RPM
Maybe they're just shooting a Sunday driver out on those curves
Maybe they used cheap microphones for the shoot
Maybe my speakers are shot
Maybe my hearing is going

...but something makes the Carrera in the video not sound like a very compelling Sports Car.

What ever it is, I'm so thankful that I'm driving what I am.

Well said, Guenter!
is probably feeling a bit blue herself. Nike, Tag, and Porsche all said "adios".
