Whirring noise

Just had my master control unit replaced, now getting a whirring noise just behind the gas tank cap, behind the axle on the right side, when I lock the car. Any thoughts? Also some other electrical gremlins seem to have creeped in -- windows don['t partially open or close when the top is latched or unlatched, back trunk won't open even using the manual release, radio won't take the access code, which is the correct code.

Master control unit? DME or are you perhaps referring to the security module under the passenger's seat?

Who replaced the master control module? If the behavior wasn't present before the module was replaced I'd have to at least suspect that it is present now is related to the master control module replacement.

How long did the car sit? If the shop is not that familiar with Porsches if the car is left unlocked, and a door open, this can drain the battery and a low battery can result in all kinds of electrical gremlins.

Why was the master control unit replaced? Water damage? If so was the source of the water found and corrected? Was the area thoroughly dried?

Assuming the behavior is from something new are you sure the doors are dry? Check the door bottoms, the carpet. If this is damp water is accumulating in the door and this can cause electrical gremlins. Initially they can be confined to the door locks/windows but if allowed to go can start to show up as gremlins at other places.

BTW, if you enter the wrong radio code the radio has to be on 30 minutes before it will accept another code. I can't leave the ignition on this long but my commute requires 30+ minutes so after I screwed up entering the code the first time I drove to work and when I arrived then the radio was prompting for the code. I entered the correct on and had my radio back.

Security module, replaced by a trusted indy Porsche specialist because of water damage, area 90 percent dry. Battery may be low, that was my guess.

Either water in the control unit or bad ignition switch.
