I just noticed that my fog lights are coming on when I open the car door - they stay on for a few minutes and then shut off. Not all the time, but seems to happen after its been sitting for a few days. I haven't the foggiest idea (no pun intended smiling smiley ) what could be causing it to happen.

Any ideas as to what the cause could be? confused smiley

TIA,

Ed

Are there any other seemingly unrelated electronic glitches? Any problems getting the ignition switch/out or on/off. If it's any of these things, it could be the electronic part of the ignition switch.
Once, the remote wouldn't open the car doors. I attributed it to a dying battery - its 16 years old!

Your lights may have a setting for "Home," which is a setting that keeps the headlights on for a set period of time if you lock your car. Safety feature for when you come home at night and the house is all dark.
Nope, even if I did this happens when I open the car, not when I close/lock it.

That wasn't a feature in the 986.

Besides Guenter's suggestion of the electronic side of the ignition switch (thanks , BTW) any other possibilities?

If I go with that as the issue anyone know the cost of repair?

Thanks,

Ed

…that could likely cause this issue.
• The ignition switch (electrical portion)
• The lights switch itself
