Rented an Impala on a family trip over the weekend. I'd wanted to do this for a while because it was redesigned this year. Assuming others on the board might also be interested, here are some quick thoughts.

The car is comfortable and has the big-car feel I miss sometimes and that is fading with the demise of the Ford Crown Vic (not to mention Galaxy and Custom 500). I wonder whether if this car is successful, and if the planned full-size Cadillac is a hit, GM will come back into the full-size sedan market, even if as a hybrid or electric vehicle. The one I had had too little power, though, but it probably had the smaller engine, not the V-6 option.

All in all, it was a pretty nice car for what it is and I hope its successful. The only quibble I have is that it seems the trunk never locked, but I didn't notice that until the end of the trip.

2001 Base, purchased in 2004, replaced engine at 130K+, RIP 2017
Which is on their high performance RWD platform.
Killed with the death of Pontiac, brought back as a police car, and either available or "to be" as a consumer car.

The G8 was GR8, back when i drove it. Small-block in a sedan? yes please.
