The article is very true.
I like the quote: "The Porsche is a machine that comes to life. The electric car is an appliance that moves".
Happy Porsche'ing (while you can)

Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar

"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting" ... Steve McQueen as Michael Delaney in "LeMans"

"If you wait, all that happens is that you get older"... Mario Andretti

"Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose" ... Ayrton Senna
Very sad, but quite accurate sad smiley

The difference between starting a Porsche and turning on an electric car is the difference between actual sex and Internet porn....or so I imagine winking smiley

"A mile of highway will take you one mile. A mile of runway will take you anywhere."
I agree with the writer completely. Electric cars are good appliances for getting you around town or back and forth to work, if the distance isn't too great. They don't do much for those people who enjoy driving. Who's going to get excited about a hum and the sound of tires?

A few years ago, a group of us had looked at a Tesla Roadster that was parked. We were standing on the sidewalk beside it and talking. When one of us turned around, it was gone. Had it been a Porsche, Ferrari or a Harley, we'd all have notice when it was fired up and drove away.

With a push toward self driving cars, electric cars fit right in. Just get into your cubicle on wheels, hit the 'Home" or "Shopping" button and start texting....yawn.zzzzzzz.

I feel fortunate that I've still got mein Kamerad.
I for one, am intrigued by the Mission E. Once I know my location of retirement in 6 or 7 years, if the place I buy can handle a charging station, there is a very good chance I'll have one in my garage. It may or may not be sitting next to a combustion-engine Porsche, the way things are evolving in the auto industry.
that is available that I'd buy. But I've plotted the route from my electricity distribution panel to where in the garage the 240v would need to go and the next time an electrician is here, I'll ask him for a quote. I already own a hybrid and find it fun just for the technology. Does it handle like a Boxster. No. But can a Boxster handle the trip I'll take from NC to DC next Sunday taking all the stuff that is the point of the trip or the trip I took today, no to both. Life is compromises.

With my hybrid station wagon I fill up for less than $20, will get 80k out of a set of tires that cost $505 a set of 4, maybe 100k out of a set of brake pads. At 40k plus miles neither tires or brakes show wear.

In 2 years time, there will be lots of EVs available. I hope to be buying one.
