more beatiful than our Boxster S

We have a 2003 Boxster S, and we are also the original owners of a 1978 VW Champagne Edition II Westfalia, which we recently had fully restored at Competition Engineering in Phoenix. I must admit, we both love the VW more. The rebuild features are:

1) full repainting
2) full reupholsetering
3) engine rebuild (67 hp of fuel injected fury ... torquey too!)
4) AC converted to modern refrigerant, using 1/10 the HP of the original
5) stove & refrigerator still work
6) inside furniture and paneling rebuilt in bamboo, using the original furniture as templates, reusing original hardware
7) fixed seat belts upgraded to inertia-reel units
8) pneumatic windshield washer converted to electric pump-based system
9) dash clock, unique to the CEII, still works

The bus runs, sounds, and handles (within its design parameters) great. The only thing that could not be made to look like new was dashboard.

Looks great. Reminds me of an old friend of mine years ago that did the same thing but he installed 911 Turbo engine (sans turbo) in his. He used it to tow his 356 race car. He caused quite a stir when he went by you on the highway at 75+ while towing a car cool smiley

That's a thing of rear engined, rear wheel drive, horizontally opposed beauty. I’m in the process of restoring a ’71 squareback. I can see a Westy like yours in my future.
