I have not replaced the key batteries for my 2000 S - still the original batteries and they are 10 years old and 175K miles! I do switch keys every coupla years when I think about it so the loads were about the same. Now I think I am experiencing a dying battery or, maybe the button is failing. I push the button and nothing happens sometimes. So, I think I will just replace the batteries.

Anyone know the battery type? Procedure? Any expectation into the life of these keys?

Hi, they are standard batteries. I got my replacements at the local CVS drug store.
