ATE has always worked just fine for me - either blue or gold. Both on track and off. Don’t see a reason to change.

Some people still add dye to their gold.
If a cop pulls you over what are the odds that he will check the color of your brake fluid?

My post was intended to prevent people from looking futilely for brake fluid that you recommended--O.K., in the past--but is no longer available in the USA (or the EU as I now understand it).
