My 99 Boxster top stopped working. I heard a big popping sound and then it stopped working. I checked/tested brake switch top switches, clamshell switch, motor, fuses and all seem fine.
I have not tested b-pillar switch yet. BTW: Is this on the left side of the car? I have seen info posted right as well.
I fixed the right side transmission which went past the moon shaped gear, which caused the pop.

What happens currently.
Turn on the car - I see the top light come on for a few seconds and then turns off.
I unlatch the top, and the windows go down a few inches, but the top light does not come on. I tested that the two top switches work (one closes and one opens when the latch is opened.)
The brake light is on. Fuse D3 and B6 test fine.
I push the top up or down button and nothing. No sound, no dimming of lights, nothing.

So my assumption is the solenoid no longer works, because I think the light should turn on.
I am looking for diagnostic tests for the solenoid, or another theory as to why the top does not work.

Thank you
