Passing of Cheeky Ol' Coot
Meredith in Atlanta - Tuesday, 8 March, 2011, at 9:23:25 am
Cheeky passed away this weekend after a massive heart attack. He was a wonderful guy and great prolific BRBS'er. He will be greatly missed by us old-timers. Karl has provided some information about the arrangements:

The viewing will be at Desmond Funeral Home in Troy, MI on Thursay from 2-6pm. The service will be at the funeral home on Friday at 11am. www.desmondfuneralhome.com.

If anyone wants Marilyn's phone # or mailing address, please PM me.

Dick Dittus was a charter member of Southeast Michigan Region and had been a P car driver for over 50 years. Being a 356 guy, I would always pick his brain about the good 'ol days, but man did he love his Boxster.

Just as his friend Gottfried Hogh, a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

RIP Dick,

Sebastian
Sorry to hear of his passing.

I went back to the old site to catch up. There are many great C o C posts and pictures there, including a great one of his 356.
Marilyn, I'm so sorry for your loss, Dick was a wonderful man. He never seemed to run short on energy and had a sense of humor that kept everyone around him laughing.

I will miss him,

Kevin

He really was a gentle, cheerful guy who greeted everyone with a welcoming smile.

We're going to miss him at BRBS.
Sorry to hear about Dick

Racecar spelled backwards is Racecar

"Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting" ... Steve McQueen as Michael Delaney in "LeMans"

"If you wait, all that happens is that you get older"... Mario Andretti

"Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose" ... Ayrton Senna
Your good nature, bright smile, and kind heart were an inspiration for all of us. Heaven just became a better place.
Just seeing his posting moniker was entertaining enough.

And although I'm not a fan of emoticons, I his use of the smilie with glasses was fitting.
Sad news indeed

We are sorry to hear the news about Dick. We met Dick at our first BRBS and were immediately taken with his personality and spirit for life. We have not only lost a beloved member of our team but a role model for life as well.

Our condolences go out to his family.

Sorry to hear this. I met him at Boxstoberfest. He kept sticking fake bulletholes on the cars. Had the great pleasure of sitting with him for drinks in the evening. The world lost another gentle spirit, but him and Gottfried are kickin' back and swapping tales.
