A very short alarm bell rings. It sounds like when the door is not fully closed but shorter. Just one ring. Any ideas? Thank you. Sergio
... even though you don’t tell us which car you drive, I’ll go out on a limb and say that it’s the speed chime on the On Board Computer.
It will ping once the car reaches the set speed.
You can reset it using the OBC stalk on the steering wheel.
Happy Boxstering

Another welcome to Pedrosboard, Sergio.

As Pedro said, it's good if you tell us what model year your car is.

To add to what Pedro said, if it's a 987 (2005) or later, you can set a speed warning with the OBC. It would go off in any gear once you exceed that speed, no matter which gear you're in. There will also be a message that pops up for a few seconds on the OBC screen, reminding you that you've exceeded the set limit.
Hi Guenter, thank you for your response. It's a Boxster 98. Love it!
Hola Pedro, I think you are right! I was messing with the OBC stalk on Saturday and it happened right after that. Just didn't put those two together until your response. Will have to see how to go about removing it now. Thank you!

Wasn’t thinking of the speed chime!
Mine are set at 65 and 75, each a common “10 over.”
Since mine was getting annoying, I tried setting it at 165 mph. It wouldn't take. Go figure!
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Well, based on your feedback, I set it to 75 mph and so far it hasn't rung yet. Should be driving at above that speed soon but not over 144 mph smiling smiley. Thank you for your feedback! Great Boxstering weather coming up! Now to next repair project: get the top down!
