as far as I can tell, all of the articles about hacking autonomous cars are "what if" speculation articles. It's not presently an issue, even though there are plenty of level 2 autonomous vehicles on the road.

Ben Franklin was observing an early balloon flight in France. Someone else asked something like, “What good is it?” or “Of what use is it?” Franklin, realizing that a manned balloon flight portended unimaginable possibilities replied, “Of what use is a newborn baby?”
Although stealing autonomous vehicles isn’t presently an issue one shouldn’t infer it won’t be one in the future. (Boxsterra did keep the possibility open.)
