If'n we are in "shelter in place" or similar - which seems likely, are you going to allow/encourage NBC posts? Basically looking for another social outlet that we are not talking virus.

We've never deleted or prohibited NBC/NPC posts but always encourage everyone to stay on theme (more or less) because it's our niche.
But, I'd like to open it up to the membership and see what the general consensus is.
I think we'll be in this hunker-down situation for a while (longer than 2 weeks IMNSHO).

Happy Porsche'ing,
Pedro

Like: How much of this will fit into the Frunk of a Boxster?

That seems to be a pressing question these days. grinning smiley
When my wife was preggers with our first daughter, we went to Costco and signed up. Like dolts, we took the Boxster.

We bought diapers, wipes, (A whole lot of diapers and wipes. We thought it would last a while - Oh how naive we were.....) We also bought a bunch of other stuff - it was our first visit after all.

So anyway - we walk out to the Boxster with our "flatbed" cart full of stuff. Just about the time we get to the car, we look at each other and realize - ah-oh, we have the convertible, not the wagon.

We proceed to unbox all of our purchases. We stuffed things all over the place. Behind the seats, under the seats, on the sides of the seats, in both trunks, behind the spare tire, in the little spaces on either side of the battery, under my wife's feet and legs and on her lap (such as it was, being like 8 mos preggers) I even had stuff that we could secure while driving under my legs.

I am sure we amused the heck out of other shoppers (and ourselves). We made it home just fine.

We were astonished how much stuff we were able to fit in the Boxster.

Although not recommended, it was an acceptable (or at least workable) Costco hauler.
I agree

Everywhere you turn these days the subject is politics and the virus. It's refreshing to have somewhere to go where the discussion is all about cars and all of the things immediately related to them (especially the people).

I have great sympathy for those who have lost loved ones or whose lives have been otherwise negatively impacted by the virus. It's truly a tragedy. Let's let this place be your oasis.
The NBC became problematic. So while I think some NBC is a good thing, My thought would be some actual rules:

No politics - period - no exceptions.
No virus discussion - except in passing reference. We need a refuge.
No religion - except in passing reference.
Photo posts are encouraged - we need "happy thoughts."

Try to make the post some how -some way vehicle related - but not strictly necessary.

Otherwise - we are all friends (I hope). We will need our friends to keep us sane in the next several months. So ....

Our niche +1... cautiously open & discreet, for the sake of excessive banter.

even when topics are NBC or even NPC, they are still somewhat related to the main topic.

i wholeheartedly agree with the no politics and no religion and now no virus. we're getting plenty of that elsewhere.

I participate in another car model forum which is poorly moderated and has degenerated in usefulness within 6 months of lax moderation. It went from a focused helpful site to where the most popular thread is entitled "This forum is painful".

You might choose to allow a few weeks of social bonding among the many long time friends and members and then cut it off and force it back to the one subject focus.

I've been a forum user since before the Internet and the best forums have always been ruthlessly moderated. Violate the rules and have posting privileges suspended for a month. Second offense, banned.
