All,

I recently changed the serpentine belt on my 2001 Boxster S for the second time at 109,000 miles. When I finished I noticed what appears to be a fluid leak of some kind in the engine compartment directly behind the drivers seat. This photo was taken before I reinstalled the front engine cover. Is this normal wear or is it indicative of something I need to repair?

Thanks,

Neil

Obviously I was not able to display the photo inside the message. It appears it does show up when clicking on the link.

Get under the car and look. Probably the power steering pump, lines that run up the drivers side .
which would be a common problem. I recommend cleaning the area then checking again later. The source of the leak will be more obvious.

(Also if you have another pic that would help)
Boxsterra,

I believe you are correct. I checked the reservoir yesterday and found nothing on the dipstick. I added some to it. I am glad that NAPA carries the correct fluid.

Thanks,

Neil
