My 2021 Cayman S manual warns about using a charging adapter in the 12v electrical sockets. The socket in the footwell is larger than the cigarette lighter and should work for my Escort detector. I used the detector in my 2003 Boxster for 17 years with no problem. Is this an issue for all Porsche models and is anyone aware of this. Thank You George Grialou

I used the socket in the footwell of my 2021 Cayman T to plug in the Porsche battery maintainer. It works fine although there is one trick the salesman warned me about. The car should be running before the maintainer is plugged in.

On my 2007 Boxster I got tired of plugging and unplugging the GPS, Radar Detector and or my phone charger for the internal plugs, so I installed a charger plug from battery Positive terminal and car ground to and external charger plug. Easy-peasy.
