This story is in the Christophorus Magazine and right now they have it on the Porsche website. It gives some neat history about the Porsche Family and the Grossglockner. In this one Wolfgang Porsche and his son Ferdinand (Ferdi) drive a couple of 550 Spyders up the Grossglockner, highest mountain road in Austria. We were able to drive this road on our Europe tour back in 2019.

Thanks for the info. I have driven that road twice, once in a new 220SE Mercedes and again in a new 280SE Mercedes, but I did not know the historical significance.

Steve
i would love to drive that road.

Not a 550 Spyder, but here you can ride along in a 996. This is heading south.

It's a handy road for the Porsche family. Their estate is in Zell am Zee, just about a 30 minute drive north of the Grossglockner and Gmünd, where the first Porsche - the 356-01 and 51 more like it were built, is only about a one hour drive west of the Grossglockner.
