What a great Day!
It Began – Leaving the hotel on delivery day.

Chris and I left the hotel at 8 AM to the Leipzig Experience center. We were greeted and shown to the coffee shop on the 2nd floor by Shara and given a pager. The coffee shop was well equipped with all types of snacks and beverages. In the middle of the shop was a 1973 Carrera RS…very nice. Chris and I enjoyed the great view of the track as we enjoyed the hospitality. After a few red bulls and expressos, we were revved up as the pager lit up to tell us they were ready for us. The fun continues!

The On road Track

We were introduced to Mike who was our guide for the on and off road tracks. Since covid he was not allowed to be in the same car. Mike took a white turbo S and we were shown into a beautiful viper green 4.0 Cayman GTS. Mike spoke to us through a 1 way mic which broadcasted on the radio. We were the only ones with a delivery that morning and the only ones on the track! Usually there are up to 10 or more deliveries per event. Mike lead in the turbo S and described the history of the Leipzig site and showed us all the nuances of the track we were driving on. After a couple of slow laps we started to speed up to run a few hot laps…I like hot laps. We stopped and parked beside each other on the track (remember we were the only ones on the track) and Mike told be to execute a launch control as this car is a PDK. WOW very exciting. You are not going to believe this, however Mike was driving a Turbo S and passed me? Chris and I switched spots and he got to experience the Porsche magic.

The Off road Track

Mike took a Macan and we were shown into a Cayenne S. Mike spoke to us through a 1 way mic which broadcasted on the radio. Over hills, Rocks, Mud and water for a good hour. Wow, the Cayenne with the off road package is very capable as we crawled up and down steep hills. Both Chris and I took turns.

Delivery Time!!

Mike escorted us to the presentations bays and then came a lesson on how to remove the fitted cover. I wasn’t listening at all…let me see my Porsche for heaven sakes; ) . It looks better in real!. I told Mike that this is Number 823 and he replied…is this a limited edition? He did not know? WOW. Mike said I will need to hold on to this one then. I complied.
We chatted about all the features this car for a while then I asked him if he could drive it out to the front for some pictures under the diamond. Chris and I met Mike out front for some pics. When Mike was about to take the car back I asked if I could get into the passenger seat…NP. Mike stated that we had a full tank of gas and asked where should we go?
I asked Mike if we could take it around the track for a victory lap. NP!. I asked Mike to keep it under 8,000 : ) . He offered the recommend break in period for the engine and the brakes. Great information. After the lap (there were 3 GT3s being broken in by the mechanics on the track as well..tough job) my son taped my car being backed in the garage…very cool video.

Factory Tour

The factory was running on a small skeleton crew as they were shut down because of a missing harnesses from Ukraine. Christina was our host for the plant tour and understood my Operational background and tailored the tour for me. Did I mention that we were the only ones on the tour: ). Half way thru the tour a colleague appoached us and told Christine that they are getting the harnesses next week…good news for the 3 shifts and 4,ooo employees.

No cameras allowed!

Lunch Time

All by ourselves again. 3 course gourmet meal and beverages…many beverages. We were overlooking the track and watching the 3 GT3 being broken in. Face time Donna (my wife) and yapped for a while. After Lunch they have a small museum upstairs that we viewed. We walked around the facility for a bit and when to the store to collect a gift from Porsche. There were no Boxster 25 or Spyder paraphernalia to be had….go figure. They called a taxi for Chris and I. We left the facility around 3:30… back to the hotel.

What a Great Day! See you Boxter25 in ~ 6 weeks.

you right click and open in a new tab. then when you get there you can see the other pics. i think there's one duplicate link in this post so there are only 4, not 5.

Mike, is that your boxster in the picture of the pre-assembly body? amazing if it is. and the exhaust sounds great! congrats on a gorgeous car!

so are you going to drive around europe for a while? if so, where? it's a bit early to do any passes like the stelvio since they aren't open yet.

Thank you!

Yes that is my Boxster as it was going through the manufacturing process. I did not drive it around Europe. Spend a great day at Porsche Leipzig...a great experience.

I will fix the balance of the links.

how long was it from when you took the picture of the body to when your received the finished car?

from memory of visiting the factory about 20 years ago (holy cow, is that possible????) they said a porsche takes 5 days to manufacture. i think, but i'm not sure, that was from welding all the stamped sheet metal together to painting to assembly to finished car. i could very well be wrong. that's why i'm curious about you being able to see your car. to me that is amazing. it would be fantastic to be able to follow your car through the entire process (minus watching the paint dry.)

why didn't you drive the car in europe? what was the benefit of taking delivery over there? how does receiving the car in n. america work if you've already taken delivery of it over there? do you take delivery again at the dealer or do you just go pick it up somewhere with no fanfare? sorry about all questions but i'm really curious about this.

i didn't know the boxster 25 had a 25 on the emblem on back. i kinda like that.

again congrats on a gorgeous car!

-how long was it from when you took the picture of the body to when your received the finished car? - I received all the pics one day when Porsche updated my Porsche app to "Your car was produced" Dec 7 2021.

I really don't know how long the process actually took. Porsche stated that my car was scheduled on Oct 15th 2021..then completed on Dec 7 2021.

why didn't you drive the car in europe? My original scheduled pick up on January 9 however I got COVID and postponed until March 8th. I was not going to drive my Boxster 25 in January and did not change it. what was the benefit of taking delivery over there? The joy of travelling with my son and spending a day at The Leipzig Porsche experience center and seeing my Boxster 25 in the flesh[!/b] how does receiving the car in n. america work if you've already taken delivery of it over there? do you take delivery again at the dealer or do you just go pick it up somewhere with no fanfare? I take delivery at my Dealer as normal...I am not sure about the fanfare, however I will fake if it doesn't happen ; )sorry about all questions but i'm really curious about this. No problem..it was a great experience ...ask away!

i didn't know the boxster 25 had a 25 on the emblem on back. i kinda like that. Thank you ...so do I

again congrats on a gorgeous car!
Thank you so much...I am still over the moon!...can't wait.

Congratulations, Mike on your spectacular new Boxster GTS 4.0 25 Year Anniversary LIMITED EDITION.

WHAT A CAR !!!!.

And what a delivery experience !

Once-in-a-lifetime, indeed. For both you and Chris. An unforgettable memory.

Your 987S served you well, and vice versa.

If there was ever a time for a successor, this is it. And the 'purrfect' successor it is. (With that 4.0 engine, you'll likely experience more growls and wails, than purrs.... )

Many happy miles AND smiles, Mike.
Thank you Roger for your kind words and the photo of our visit a few years back. That was quite a shock when I hit the link.

Hope you are well!...

Congratulations, Mike, on acquiring the ultimate Porsche!

It has all the right stuff - the big 4 litre naturally aspirated engine, manual transmission, PASM, unequaled Porsche mid-engine handling, all wrapped up in a spectacular, and very rare, package.
Update; Boxster 25 years is moored in Halifax...next stop the Dealership. Hope to pick up the Boxster the week of May 16th! smiling bouncing smileysmiling bouncing smileysmiling bouncing smileysmiling bouncing smileysmiling bouncing smileysmiling bouncing smiley

Hey Mike, Looks like the sleepless nights are coming close to the end. Looking forward to seeing and hearing it in person on our drives in the near future.
