I hope someone can help me in my search. For my 1978 911 SC, I'm trying to find out the serial numbers of the original engine & transmission installed by Porsche when the car was assembled. Does anyone know of a resource I can access or go to to get this information? Porsche US no longer offers a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) that would include these numbers. The COA has been replaced by a Porsche Production Specification (PPS) document that gives good vehicle information but does not include engine & transmission serial numbers.
For 356s, a Kardex gives that information and they can be readily bought.

If they are available for 911s, it should give what you want. Maybe only available thru 1969 (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/821492-kardex-how.html)
