Nice color you have there. Adding one late to keep you company, since no one replied to your post…by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I always do. Not sure if it adds any benefit though.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
A good friend and I did the 01 to 03 top a long time ago and it was absolutely plug and play but we measured the exact spot and marked where we disconnected the arms to make sure the positioning was correct. It did not require any additional work. There is a need to do microswitch work if you have a 97-99 model though, but your 01 wouldn’t require any additional work. You probably need to adjusby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I agree that the removal of the physical dip stick is a pain. I don’t trust the electronic measurement and so while the oil/filter change itself is pretty easy on my 997, I measure how much oil is drained and then put a little less than that in and go from there.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I would try checking out Rennlist as mentioned here already. They have some active Cayman forums, and they may be able to help.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Here’s a pic I took recently that shows some nice colors with the leaves starting to change colors. I also recently did a Podcast (link below) to speak about my Porsche ownership journey through the years. A lot of my great experiences stemmed from this very board by meeting such good people in the Porsche community. If you get a chance to listen, I hope you enjoy the story… PorscheCoolby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I don’t know. I wouldn’t want to do that. I’ll always try to have a Pcar in my garage. The Mini does nothing for me, well, except for this one.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
He moved on from his two Pcars. I think he got a Mini Cooper and a Dodge Challenger as replacements to his Boxster and Turbo.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Not as much color in the leaves here in NJ yet, but getting there…by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Glad they’re at least gonna continue making the 911 with gas powered engines. Hope they still offer them in manual too. I’m ok with going electric but only as a commuter car. For a weekend fun car, it’s gotta be an ICE with three pedals for me.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Various threads I’ve read in 997 forums indicate the negative camber on this car causes this inner tread wear on the rears and many get between 12-15k miles out of them. I’m actually ok with that, and I don’t want all seasons on my sports car, but YMMV. I will get it checked out though. 997 tire wear:by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
QuoteJM-Stamford,CT I agree. I suspect that someone wanted an aggressive suspension setup. If you made the rear more neutral, you will probably get better wear. To be clear, 15K is very short in the absence of track or other aggressive abuse. That shouldn’t be the case, as I had the 4 wheel alignment done according to Porsche specs at a Porsche dealer 3 yrs ago. It is not unheard of to get oby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
QuoteRev Dennis I had a similar conversation on another board. On my NSX I only had 4000 miles on the tires, but I checked and here the rears were worn out. Turns out they get a 100 foot skid pad result of 1 g by giving the rears a 1 degree inner bias. Check your alignment. That was years ago. I am back in Porsche land now. Thanks, well these rears had about 15K on em till it got to this point,by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
QuoteJM-Stamford,CT It will be good to keep you around for a while longer. In addition to the new tires,, I might suggest getting the suspension/alignment checked. That is a lot of wear on the extreme inside of the tire. That looks a little unusual. The wear could be made more even. I do wonder if that kind of wear indicates you are not getting the best contact patch for the kind of driving yby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I drive with other Porsche pals on weekends so much I checked my tires over the weekend right before I went out and saw this! Down to the chords on my inner rears. Scary actually and I’m glad I checked. New tires ordered and I clicked on the banner for Tirerack on this forum so hopefully Pedro’s site gets some sort of credit. Easy to do, as it brings you right to the Tirerack site to order. Dby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Like I said, I wish! Maybe the 1:18 scale model version though.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in Ontario Very nice. Is that your patio? Yes, nice view huh? Just kidding…I wish! It is an excellent location with amazing views though.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I have one more they picked JM. Will hold back on that one then.by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
I’ll play even though I don’t have a Boxster anymore. Same photo, but on Porsche’s web page:by CarreraLicious - Main Forum
QuoteJMstamford,ct If you are talking about DEALER quotes in the NY Metro, that might be in the range. But for a decent independent, I submit it is high. I get that they quote from the book or whatever and I get that the mark up stuff through the roof, but the parts are NOT the expensive. Check FCP Euro and other sites. The work is much easier than on many of my other cars. Remember, in theoryby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
QuoteAndyInNYC QuoteTheFarmer I agree with Boxterra that this is an easy job and satisfying, if not fun (but probably fun is a fine description). The online videos and instructions are fine and getting the parts is easy. The biggest requirement is an acceptable jack and jack stands to ensure your safety (oh, and a suitable garage so you can take your time - I would not want to do this on a cityby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
Quotefrogster QuoteGary in SoFL Who, EVER uses ALL the power of the 986, 981, 718 is that a serious question? i used ALL the power in my MY2000 Boxster S extremely often and was clambering for more! QuoteKinnick4Ever I do indeed and if ordering from scratch, that would be my choice. if you're going to have to pay MSRP then why wouldn't you order a car exactly the way you want it? if you'reby CarreraLicious - Main Forum
