I just replaced my immobilizer after my last one got water damaged. The old one still allowed the car to drive, but things weren't perfect: the remote range was poor, the head/tail lights didn't flash when arming the alarm system. I've been driving the car for the last year or so with the old immobilizer; however, I decided to replace it since I knew it was broken and I am also troubleshooting O2by Jayusa123 - Main Forum
I managed to get my IPAS codes from the local Porsche dealer today. The sheet has Prod Nr, Learning Code, DME programming code, and immobilizer code. The DME programming code is just 000000. Is this right? Also, the sheet didn't include any codes for: radio code, ignition lock/alarm system code, immobilizer serial number, Radio Serial Number, and transponder codes 1, 2, and 3. Not really. Nor has the power steering fluid level ever dropped a bit.by Jayusa123 - Main Forum
When inspecting my polyrib belt today, I noticed a good amount of oil residue/gunk collecting on the engine just under the driver's side fuel injector pipe. There's a small part with a cross and what appears to be a spring inside that I think might be the source of the oil. (It has the most oil gunk buildup.) I've gone all through the PET diagrams and can't for the life of me find out what the heby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
Aha. Now I know why AC Delco offers a lifetime warranty on them.by Jayusa123 - Main Forum
QuoteLaz Yes, & either way the starter is up top, albeit somewhat hidden, so it's relatively easy to get at. That's such an easy job that the (relatively) easy job of replacing my Boxster's starter seemed like a major pain in the ass! Although, once I decided to just remove the intake air pipe entirely instead of just pivoting it out of the way, the job became a lot easier.by Jayusa123 - Main Forum
I bought an ACDELCO remanufactured unit for around $130. I thought I was getting a deal since it was from an OEM core and carried a lifetime warranty. I guess I should have lubricated it myself before installing it though.by Jayusa123 - Main Forum

About a year ago, I noticed an occasional squeal when starting my car. It sounded typical of a starter beginning to go bad. By September, I noticed it more often and also started to observe that my car would, on occasion, not start. (same symptoms of low battery) I replaced the battery as a matter of course, but the starting trouble remained. I imagined that this (along with the squealing) was myby Jayusa123 - Main Forum

I had this exact squeak and fixed it by filling the ball joint with white lithium grease (from an aerosol can with a plastic straw.) I bought a new control arm a while later, knowing that it did need fixing eventually. I've been storing that control arm for YEARS. It just never started squeaking again! It's something I've been meaning to install, but with the noise gone, I've easily put it on thby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
I sent you a PM, Maurice. I don't think board's email functions are working though, so you may not have been notified. Thanks! Jayby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
It would be great to have a mobile friendly version of pedrosboard. It looks like tapatalk does that, no?by Jayusa123 - Board suggestions

The best procedure documentation I've found for the replacement of the immobilizer is the 1/97 TSB 9093 It describes the entire process of coding the new immobilizer, and teaching it your key transponders and remotes. Unfortunately, I haven't found a comprehensive manual of all the PST II procedures. Jayby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
I have heard that about these things. The reason I didn't buy a salvaged unit. Do you know of any resources that detail programming steps that I can review? Or are the steps outlined in the PST software itself? Thanks! Jayby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
When my immobilizer took a swim and malfunctioned, it ruined the locking servo (actuator) next to the driver's seat. The one that locks the front and rear trunk "opener" handles when you set the alarm. I have a new one on the way and I'm trying to figure out how the heck I'll get in there. I can't seem to find anything in the Bentley manual. I know I can remove the handles by simply loosening theby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
Hi everyone, I'm looking to install a new immobilizer into my 99 Boxster after the previous one took its last swim. The stealership wants $250 just to program the new one and I thought it might be worth a shot to mention it on the board. I don't have the IPAS codes yet, although I'm determined to find a dealer who will send them to me if I fax them my title. (Any recommendations?) I also still hby Jayusa123 - Main Forum

Thanks for the tip! I will definitely clear out those drains! I can't understand why in the world porsche (and others, apparently) would put something that is obviously sensitive to water at the lowest point of the car! Either make that thing waterproof or put it somewhere high, like where the ECU is. Uggh. After cleaning the board and thoroughly drying, I reinstalled and was able to raise the wby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
Well, that was definitely it. By the looks of it, this isn't the first time water has made its way in. See pictures here if they don't load below. I had noticed some time ago (years) that once in a great while after I raised or lowered my top, the mirror defrosters would turn on. In addition, last year my cruise control stopped working. My car has had problems over the past couple years that made me suspect that the ECU was dying. I'm now doubting that, or at least think that there may be additional issues. Hi all, My 99 Boxster needs a new DME. I have a salvaged one lined up, but my dealer is claiming $250/2 hours of labor to program it. That sounds steep. I can't imagine it actually taking 2 hours. Has anyone had luck getting a DME programmed elsewhere? I'm willing to ship the unit to and from a more realistic dealer for programming. some background: my car threw O2 codes so my mechanic replaceby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
I have the Bentley manual, but that doesn't do much for troubleshooting. I've been thinking of going for Alldata since it has the factory manual stuff without the storage requirement you mentioned! jayby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
Where are you and Stefan getting your info? Alldata? Jby Jayusa123 - Main Forum
That would be ideal. Although, how would it work with the security system? We'd probably have to swap both the DME and the immobilizer in order to test it under plug-and-play conditions. Otherwise we'd have to get the dealer involved with the swap... we probably want to avoid that trouble!by Jayusa123 - Main Forum
So, I'm back at it once again. Hoping to FINALLY get this sorted out. I would really prefer to know more about the true cause of the problem before I through more money at it in the form of a new (well, used) DME. I took the car for a drive and logged information with an OBD II scan tool. I'm hoping someone can help me understand the situation a little better.
