my wife complains that the open top ruins her hair and that getting in an out is more difficult and that there are no electronics and that it is too bumpy. She will still ride with me, but she REALLY prefers the Volvo.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
The dealer will not sell the plastic part separately because that is not always the problem. They do not want complaints. I have replaced the plastic part a couple times. Still with the delayed clunk. I think the whole assembly needs to go.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

The daily commute to work and the general local run around time I would be covered. If one used the car solely to commute - an electric would be better than fine. But as a practicing litigator, I am required to be all over the state. It is very common for me to travel from Stamford CT to Hartford CT multiple times per week. it is not uncommon for me to go - Stamford, New London, Hartford, Staby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I think they are discussion pieces on the school quad and cafeteria. I am not sure he has anything specific in mind. But we will see. He is talking so there is potential. I was thinking a Hyundai Tiburon would be a good first car for him - assuming his feet fit. We can talk about something better after he gets through the first year of "bumper cars."by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
He basically cannot fit in the Boxster. I might have to do a console delete to make it viable. Even then, he had to take of his shoes to fit his feet on the pedals. An yes, it would be easier with shoes smaller than the Jordans he was wearing. The other night he asked me what I thought of "JDM cars." I made some small talk, but the truth is I know very little about them and it is not like weby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
There are no curmudgeons - just moldy figs...by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I had dinner with my 16 yr old the other day. He doesn't get the obsession with cars. He wants a Tesla or Prius and says that is all he will need. At the same time he is OK paying $1000 for a pair of sneakers. He specifically said Porsches are no big deal - we have one in the garage. The "special" cars to him are stuff in video games that don't exist in real life. He did know about Veyronsby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
But until they put the 4 cylinder out to pasture on the Boxster, and get rid of the 718 moniker few will be happy. If they wanted a 4 cylinder, they should have made a clean sheet 718 instead of trying to degrade the Boxster. The concept of selling "more power" is fine to a point. But if you are degrading the experience, what is the point of power? These cars were always more of an aesthetic sby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Porsche is part of VW. It is not an independent company. I felt differently about the SUV's when Porsche was independent. I said publicly that I did not care if they sold toothpaste so long as it allowed them to remain an independent company. WW played a financial game. He lost and almost went to prison. The Porsche/Piech family then went to war with each other. Not sure if we are in a betby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
So what dealer did you use? My car is due for a 20 year service next month. I will probably do that myself, but I might consider a dealer inspection for good measure. If'n you think 10 years is long .....by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I made some modifications last year. i installed an '03-04 glass window top and a three spoke steering wheel. I performed a lot of deferred maintenance and generally began to drive the car almost daily. I now have a few know quibbles to fix. (The clunky ignition lock, and the black snow from the heater.) I also have to track down an oil leak that I have been ignoring for a while - I will havby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Happy New Year Rich. I hope you all got to drive through Harriman after the meet up.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I suspect that Pirelli is not the only summer tire with issues in the cold weather. I would be curious about it. I bet that all seasons in the summer are almost as good as summer tires, but they are markedly better in the cold. I would similarly comparing all seasons to true snow tires.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
And to all on the Board. I wish you Peace and prosperity. and Pedro - Mind the snow...by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
They were very problematic in the cold. Scary? Not really, but one needed to be very conscious of the lack of grip. I had the car break loose a couple times, but it was recoverable and fairly easily at that. I was happy to be rid of them. Since then I drove a couple sets of Michelin Pilot A/S. I used them on the Porsche and several other cars - Saab's mostly. I was very content with themby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

The fan comes out pretty easily and it looks like it would give access to any door directly above it. Of course, we cannot see the route of any ducting, but there does not appear to be much space there. Indeed that might be the actuator for a flap determining re-circulation from fresh air. It almost looks like the cabin air filter would be just above the top opening depicted..by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I think this is the preferred way. The only invasive thing is the dremel of the top cap. Assuming that can be re-capped, and further assuming you can reach the third interior door, this repair should be the best choice. Read the whole thread, the fix with better pictures was posted just weeks ago ... The problem is that there are THREE doors that need to be recovered. Some thoughts on blend door design The use of foam is related to weight and price. Foam is much less expensive and lighter than the older approach of using felt. The foam (like the older felt) provides a few functions. 1) It seals the door way when its closed 2) It helps with NVH (reducing door noise as it opens and closes) 3) contributes to the weight and cost of the vehicle 4) The foam insulatby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
