The car has equipment and capabilities. If one is at a stop light - issue one is not to roll backwards. I was taught to put the car in neutral and use the handbrake to transition. I know others who were taught to feather the clutch to achieve the same result. Either will work, but feathering the clutch will place extra strain and wear on the clutch. Now in our car, that could be a problem. Iby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
that is the date it became "mine" and the date the warranty began and the date it got its plates etc. But, It doesn't really matter. I have to look, but mine will be 21 sometime during February. I know I bought it just before my birthday.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
In TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) Boxster 2/99 1 1701, Porsche increased the Oil Filling Capacity spec from 8.7 Qts. (8.25 Ltr.) to 9.25 Qts (8.75 Ltr.) w/ Filter change. Interestingly, there has never been a TSB issued on recalibrating the Oil Level Sender or DME. Nor has there been a revision of the Sender, or the Dipstick (PET shows the same PN for all model years). In other words, Porscheby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I am confused. Each time I change oil - on every car - the amount of oil needed to refill changes slightly. I have always assumed that is because of the varying temperatures, the time I let the sump drip, how much oil is up in the galleries etc. Almost always, I guess an amount. Usually 8.5 qts for the Boxster, then check and fill as needed. I am not familiar with this TSB, maybe it has to doby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I have a kid in Michigan State, maybe we take the north route home to CT and meet up? Assuming the border is open....by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Hopefully, we can get the rest of the hats sold.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Let us all hope (and pray if you are inclined) that 2021 is a much better year than 2020. The world needs hope. The world needs peace. Let us hope and pray that everyone can see the way to light a candle rather than curse the dark.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Not long ago, there were cars that were just "used cars" I bet one could have bought a 904 as a post race car, for a song. They are now worth tons. Same with many 356 models. So yes, a lot of money has changed hands. But he might have done better in many of those transactions. Still - very impressive.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Isn't that south of the 49th parallel? So which border are we talking about (or aboot)?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

But I guess the painted center caps are worth a lot of extra money. And I guess, it WOULD be difficult to enjoy a two seat car without automatic multizone climate control. But I hope they cured the black snow problem. And I guess the benefits of direct fuel injection outweigh the detriments. And I guess all that extra complexity means you don't have to (get to) work on your own car. But manby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
So with the coming of winter frosts, I am beginning to plan the projects. 1) dealing with the tears in the seats. 2) dealing with the black snow from the heater. 3) repairing the steering interlock tumbler 4) repairing the inner lining of the convertible top. None are massive undertakings, but they will all take some time. I am debating the approach to 1+2, but they have each got to be done.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
And I got to speak to the man himself. Thanks Pedro. And folks, it is not about the hats. Although that is cool enough. It is about giving back a smidge. We are all driving around in Porsches. And although this has been a really terrible year, for some it has been catastrophic. Bottom line, throw in. Folks can use the help.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
What are we collecting for? Probably in, just curious as I cannot do math.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
It is great that the Board survived at all - much less lasted 10 years. A testament to the community and your hard work. And a thank you to Chuck who long ago created the original community that we still share.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
1) Shifter cables - supposedly Porsche recommends they be swapped every 22K miles. I have never heard of a failure - and I certainly have not heard of it being a maintenance item. 2) burned headlight surrounds Have you heard of such things?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I just ordered from AutoAtlanta. Figured I would support them for posting the parts diagrams. It took the better part of two weeks for the bolt to be delivered. Maybe AMZN is getting me spoiled, but 2 weeks? Anyway, the bolt seems to have worked without issue. It was less than a 5 minute job to install - this time with blue locktite. I do not want a repeat of the thing falling out. (assumby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Thoughts based upon my 2000 2.7. 1) AOS - it will go soon, so probably best to do it while you are in there. 2) inspect the water pump. They have tendencies to go - unclear to me whether it is mileage or age driven. 3) check the coolant tank. They go too and when it happens you will have a sweet smelling trunk. 4) moisturize the seats and other leather. I am heading toward replacing the coverby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I will get the bolt and see what happens. Let's hope for an easy fix. It just frosts me because I know the only place that bracket was removed was the dealership, when they swapped the engine several years back. They also damaged the half shafts and some other less significant pieces. It is not that hard for them to tighten bolts properly. It just isn't.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Is there a nut for that bolt? I cannot tell from the image. On the car, it looks like there is no way to get in behind? Further, the images do not suggest that it is an oblong bolt head. Therefore, I assume it does not directly affect alignment?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

I think this is potentially a bid deal. The lateral most bolt on the diagonal aluminum brace is missing. It is the bolt depicted at 10:18 of this video. It seems as if that bolt is important for the alignment of the car. Who knows how long it has been missing, but I guess that means I have variable alignment. That cannot be good. so first question is where can I get a new one? second quesby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Either of these cars would be plenty fast for anyone unless their "need" was for track performance. Around town, the differential would likely be noticeable but not really "significant." To be clear, I am all for having the greatest and best - if that is what you desire. But we must be certain to note it as a "want" not a "need." For my part, I have significant problems with the prices. I amby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Plus Savannah is not the most common color and susceptible to dirt and wear. I do not know for sure what I will do. The tears are bad and getting worse. Close inspection of the passenger seat shows "micro" tears beginning to form around the perforations. If I repair, I will likely be chasing the problem - so I will replace. Only question is with what.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
but the internet types have said mixed stuff. Some say the color does not match - others say the cover is not a tight as OEM. Most say it is good for the money. One guy raved about them. Check the various boards.. Others have used this company: But I worry when they say "Boxster" but the picture is 911. Just sayin' The price is appx $1500 per pair installed (if you are in Mass.) Appx $9by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
