So we will see. But the fill tube is on the passenger side? No? The oil cleanup was only on the driver's side. I had most of the intake apart to clean it in connection with the AOS, and the top of the engine was dry. Whatever it is/was started around the oil cooler and went down from there. Maybe there was a leak in one of those gaskets that stopped? Maybe it was something old that eventualby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I do not like screens on my dash or close. In our Volvo, the screen dominates everything. Last thing I want to do is mimic that - even a little bit. In any event, the LAST thing I want is a bigger screen. Folks will still need to mount their phone someplace. They do in the most modern cars. For the specific reasons, you would have to ask them. I do not need to look at my BB except for thinby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

I went to do the oil change Sunday. Oil - check Filter - check O-ring - check drain plug washer - ______________ good thing I checked before draining the oil. I looked - the washer is $0.16 - they sell it separately at FCP Euro. But not for the BMW. That filter (also Mann) comes with the o-rings and washer. (There are 2 o-rings on the BMW filter.) So why do you need to order the sixteenby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
these faults can be caused by a whole range of things ranging from a vacuum leak to a dead CAT. I suspect a reprogram would only cover electrical and vacuum problems affecting the system. But anything after? Further - doesn't the system act to protect the CATs from over rich conditions? I am not a tech, and will defer to those who are, but simply removing the system strikes me as short termby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
That makes all of the difference. $21K sounds really high for a car you were able to drive. I hope the frame was not bent or something. Either way, the car should be good as new just in time for lockdown to end. Fingers crossed.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
What is a "joying port" That unit promises a lot of functionality for like no cost. $239 is very inexpensive - dare I say cheap? I wonder if it over promises.... I am not one to discount Chinese products wholesale, since I bet all of our phones and most of our electronics are made there, but this is almost too good to be true.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Bigger and fixed screen is both a positive and a negative. I suspect that most people will still require their car mounts anyway. For may part, my phone is on the seat or in the oddments tray either way. clean look. Ok - there is one less wire. That is a +. Physical buttons. Well I have a blackberry - so i already have physical buttons, but I submit that such a thing is both positive and neby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

I am able to attach my phone to the car via and aux port that I installed for like $40. I have hands free phone and stereo and map directions. yes, the maps display on my phone, but that is plenty large enough for the very limited times I need it. What additional functionality will this new offering provide?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
Almost 16 years ago, my original engine was replaced under warranty due to repeated RMS leaks. The new engine has been great so far. NO leaks to speak of - see earlier post. The engine was replaced in Jun 2004. The serial number is M96/22A T65Y65014 Is there any way to get details on that specific engine. Most particularly, what IMSB type is in there? Any other details we can discern? I amby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I did not really intend to be out there all day, but it worked out that way. First, tried to track down source of oil leak. As Stefan might remember, when I bled the clutch slave last fall, I came out from under the car covered in oily crud. There must be an oil leak of long standing - but since there is nothing on the floor below the car, I figured it could wait. Today, I got under the car toby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

I think Tony more accurately wrote down what I was thinking. Here in CT, there are many choices for getting work done on a car, plus I have several contacts in the business. So leaving any particular one is not big deal.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
They absolutely should have the grease on the shelf. It is not magic grease. The clamps? Maybe not on the shelf, but they are easily available and not very expensive. I agree with Pedro. As a matter of practice, a decent shop in normal times should eat the cost and not even mention it to the client unless the repair was delayed. In these times, maybe they need to not lose any money - no matteby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
not familiar with that one. The remainder seem logical. I will definitely be cleaning the engine. It is a mess under there. No real leaks, but (I suspect) several areas of seepage.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
like engine internals or transmissions and what not, I can see little benefit to gain over a modest priced unit. I have a Craftsman (2 actually) and they have been bullet proof for 20+ years. If it is really just for wheel bolts, harbor freight might be enough. I suspect 3 or 4 pounds off on a wheel bolt is less of an issue than something truly precision.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
I was in the barber shop the other weekend and the print was black on dark grey. In another place it was white on off white. What gives?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
What are several projects we could do without a trip/order for parts? I plan to fix the black snow caused by the heater door deteriorating and I plan to (finally) track down the tiny oil leaks. I will likely break out the clay bar and actually detail the car. Other ideas to bide the time?by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
When my wife was preggers with our first daughter, we went to Costco and signed up. Like dolts, we took the Boxster. We bought diapers, wipes, (A whole lot of diapers and wipes. We thought it would last a while - Oh how naive we were.....) We also bought a bunch of other stuff - it was our first visit after all. So anyway - we walk out to the Boxster with our "flatbed" cart full of stuff. Jby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
The NBC became problematic. So while I think some NBC is a good thing, My thought would be some actual rules: No politics - period - no exceptions. No virus discussion - except in passing reference. We need a refuge. No religion - except in passing reference. Photo posts are encouraged - we need "happy thoughts." LADismantlers - they are one of the highest volume recyclers. dcAutomotive - they are east coast US. Both had decent prices about a year ago when I started looking to do my car.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
It will cost less and will be a factory installed part. While GAHH is a well known aftermarket - it is not factory. Results would depend upon your installer. While the installation is not "easy," it is straightforward. It is an upgrade I heartily endorse and would do again for sure.by JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum

I also did almost the entire job from the top. One might suggest I should have spent more time on the bottom side, But had the blue clip not slipped, it would have been a 2 hour job - including getting it into service position. It is only when the clip did not seat properly that the problems arose. If you are flexible and generally comfortable working totally blind, by feel alone, it is a totalby JM-Stamford,CT - Main Forum
