Hi Rob... I live close by in Westmont, IL, and for the past 10 + years, I've used Euroquipe; I've no vested interest in the Indy... it's located in St. Charles, IL... a little further than you may be interested to travel (about 30 miles), but Euroquipe's integrity & workmanship has been worth it for me. Pretty sure they'll do a Pre-Purchase Evaluation for a Cayenne, but if they don't, they miby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum

Thanks, but I tried that before... still to no avail. The bayonet lock retainer won't budge at all... turned CC, pushed in & turned CC--no luck. There's only a miniscule amount of play between the ring lock and bulb. I've read there was considerable difficulty on this removal procedure (on a Benz forum). Seems there's a small tab that had to be pried out of the way, but I sure don't see anythby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum
My CajitaBlanca's ('01-986S) Litronic low beam (D2S) driver's side xenon bulb has given up the ghost--all other lights work as advertised. When low beams are selected, driver's side flickers once or twice, then remains out. As mentioned, no other lighting problems, Somehow, somewhere along the way, I have misplaced my mechanical genius when changing a lightbulb... Sounds easy enough, but I can'tby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum

Mark, I took my Boxster seat in to Mr. Trim (actual company name). A small, privately owned shop in Downers Grove, 30 years servicing auto tops and interiors. No affiliation, just very pleased with his work... his shop is always busy... upbeat and very personable guy. He'll even install the GAHH tops. Here's the contact info: Mr. Trim (Darrell Duchon, owner) 946 Ogden Avenue Downers Grove, ILby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum
Quotegrant The simplest is that the airbag detected an open. Since you disconected the batetry this should have been averted, btu maybe you didnt wait long enough? Clearing should fix. Grant, would disconnecting/reconnecting the battery again (with seat as it is now connected), clear the (code) light and re-enable the system properly? The next is that the connector is not seated properly - eitby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum
That's what I'm hoping/thinking, Rob. Just wondering if Mr. Trim accidentally nudged some of the sensor wiring in the cushion for the system. There's some complexity going on in the seat's underside. I wasn't about to tear into that job. Mr. Trim used a support material commonly used by trim shops. I really feel that the OEM support webbing was of much better design and quality than that whichby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum
Hi folks, I'm asking for a little insight in troubleshooting my newly lit airbag warning light. Here's the scenario: my driver's seat webbing had split after 12 years… with lots of help from my knee, of course. Oh, recommend never kneeling on these seats, old or new. So, I removed the seat referencing my Bentley Manual & Pelican Parts Boxster Tech instructions… first lower the top, posby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum
This one is priceless... sort of: Back in '05 when I purchased my '01S, my favorite grandson was about 9. I always tell him that he's my favorite grandson (because he's my only grandson… the other 3 grandchildren are girls… all favorites, too, of course!). Anyway, out of the mouths of babes… when he saw that little beauty, he said to me, smiling in admiration of the Boxster, "Grandpa, wheby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum
and Pedro's 234k. We've got some catchin' up to do here, eh? Once again, Marc, thanks for the 'sound' advice (pun) on getting my tech's opinion. Oh, and of course, during these last few warmer days here in the Midwest, my '01S has been starting v e r y normally. Sweet permagrin revisited… a good thing! So, during my next indy visitation, I shall see what he thinks unless other anomalies caby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum
Marc, thanks so much for the reply... What symptoms were experienced with your problematic VarioCam solenoid and actuator; were the components easily accessible, or did the procedure require engine removal? This disturbing, rapid, staccato-type, brief chatter really sources like a momentary slack in a chain which buzzes over another surface… then, as you mentioned, is quickly and totally dismby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum
However, I do suspect that my chain tensioner/guides need to be replaced… occasionally, during the initial start-up only, and on cooler days (35-55F), the rear end of car sounds like metallic marbles in a tumbler for a split second… then settles down nicely, and, as I said during the initial start-up only. Perhaps, could it be the starter/flywheel gears stripping at engagement… or even theby FrankZ, Chicago - Main Forum
