and was therefore unable to accommodate us today. Another day perhaps as some of the participants know him. Day stayed out great with beautiful weather, at least 20 cars, many models from early 911, 924S, 944S, 968, various years of Boxsters (my 99 was the oldest), A beautiful 993 RUF R Turbo conversion(authentic), and we had this elderly couple show up in a red Panamera GTS (and everyone lovedby 986rgt - Main Forum
Hoping to remember to take some pictures on this one. It will be my son's first PCA event, I think he's gonna have a blast, starts at a donut shop, stops at Wayne Carini's F40 Motorsports for a tour, then to an ice cream place as an endpoint. Any others on here going? Steveby 986rgt - Main Forum

Not sure if the holes are already in the footwell for the clutch pedal. Are the axles the same length? Clutch hydraulics? I imagine a shop is gonna charge a lot more for a swap like that, than a straight forward part for part replacement.by 986rgt - Main Forum
Sounds like you got a very rare failure, happens to many car makes. To put the blame on Porsche for this failure is unfair I would say, not their fault something in the outsourced transmission failed. As you said, the Tiptronics have a reputation for being bulletproof, so I say follow Pedros advice, source a used unit from a dismantler. Not sure how good of a shade tree mechanic you are, but a trby 986rgt - Main Forum
I have a manumatic in my '11 Subaru Legacy 3.6R, and I use the manual mode every now and then. Sometimes I go on long periods when that is all I use, then I go back to grandpa slow mode. I wish it was a dual clutch system versus the manually shifted automatic, the shifts are too soft for my taste. I'm sure the pdk would be fun, but I do prefer my manual in my Boxster.by 986rgt - Main Forum
I can only imagine your frustration, I too would be in a very bad place if something were to happen to my 99. These cars are like members of our family, and link us to long lasting friendships and to many, great life events. I can only hope that you can afford to move past this troubling event and find yourself entering into a new adventure with a replacement vehicle. Steveby 986rgt - Main Forum
Thought you guys might like this. I'm really proud of my cousin Patrick, he and a friend of his just opened a brewery in DC. Going to make a road trip soon hopefully to go and check it out. If you watch the short video on the home page, he is the first one in it. It's been really fun to watch the progress of their start-up, and the whole project is very professional and in no way small scale,by 986rgt - Main Forum

Lurking alot as of late, life gets busy you know? Growing up, I was always a Lamborghini and Corvette kid, my brother was the Porsche poster type. Getting into college, I swapped 4 wheels for two and chased my new obsesion, a Ducati. After graduation, I purchase my 1998 Ducati 748... Maybe 4 months later this was all that was left of my dream machine, and I still miss the sound and feel of thatby 986rgt - Main Forum
One of the places that seems legit, Candlepower.com And you may want to try this guy, although he does not list HID stuff on his site, he is a very reputable guy in the Subaru performance lighting area. He does alot with high power rally stuff and may have some info for you on where best to find the philips D2S... Daniel Stern Lightingby 986rgt - Main Forum
I believe it requires removing the axle, but that is not a hard job. Should be very doable for you, and if you get into issues, just take the axle down to a mechanic and have him complete the install and then return home and re-install the axle.by 986rgt - Main Forum

Hoppy, You need to find out if NC points carry over to NY. In some states, the points do not carry over to your out of state license. I'm not sure how that will affect you if they do, I seem to remember NY has some funky pay for points penalty system, that even if you pay your speeding ticket, they come back after the fact and fine you a second time for the points added to your license. So, in tby 986rgt - Main Forum
I especially liked the barb that traditionalists don't like it because it shares parts with a "lesser" Porsche model, the Boxster! I thought the best sounding car was the white 996 done up like an early euro only GT3. It must have had straight pipes on, sounded sweet.by 986rgt - Main Forum

I take a pair of 90 degree needle nose pliers, place the bent end of them between the two tabs of the old pads and force the pliers open. The pliers should force the two pads apart and you'll be all set to get the new ones in without having to fiddle with the pistons.by 986rgt - Main Forum

QuoteGary in SoFL Three questions, Steve: 1. How many coats did you apply? 2. Did you use clear or a color? 3. Have you tried to remove the dip? I've seen conflicting reports about how difficult it is. 1. I think for the grill I did maybe 5 or 6 light coats, for the wheels 2-3 heavier coats, both came out looking the same. 2. I used black... The splotch on the grill is bug remnants I think aby 986rgt - Main Forum
It holds up pretty well too, I sprayed the front grill "V" on my Subaru and it has withheld 2 winters in NE being blasted by rocks and sand and not a single chip can be found. I did my old set of wheels too and they held up great. Contrary, I tried coating both the grill and the wheels with paint and it didn't last a season...by 986rgt - Main Forum
Just add Brembos! find a set from a dismantler from an totalled S6 or S4, then... From this.. To this... Mine came off a wrecked 05 STI, car stops amazingly quick now! Only drawback is the brake upgrade required the purchase of new wheels to fit over the brakes! Gave me the opportunity to upgrade to a summer set of 18's... Steveby 986rgt - Main Forum

A leak on the presure side of the turbo, the only real way to trace it down is to take off all the parts down stream of the turbo, and take them to a radiator shop or the like and they should be able to pressure test everything, intercooler, connectors, and tubing. You should still have some connections to the intake side of the turbo piping for crank case breather and such, which I imagine, youby 986rgt - Main Forum
by different people here: Tire Rack explanation of N rating... A bit of the same info from PorscheMag.com... Basically when it comes to N rating tires, it's personal preference. I've seen some dealers that will not mount a non-N rated tire to your rims, and I've seen other dealers that will put what you want, but will waive responsibility of your tire choice. You will only get N ratings on the bby 986rgt - Main Forum
Have not found any negative results as of yet. Decrease in rotational mass, quicker to rev (I have a 2.5L so anything I can get, short of swapping in a 3.4L, I did). It chatters a bit if you are parked with no gear engaged and the clutch out, but thats a non issue for me. I know Raby harps on the lack of the dampener qualities, but I have heard other say that you have less weight hanging off theby 986rgt - Main Forum
