Instead, disconnect the half shaft at the transmission, 6 or 8 hex bolts if I remember. Then you just have to articulate the suspension a bit and the half shaft will drop allowing you the extra mopement you will need to remove the strut assembly. Steveby 986rgt - Main Forum
Grant, I have H&R springs with Bilstein HD shocks on my 99 2.5L. The ride is fairly firm, but my recolection of the ride prior to the suspension work has greatly faded. These springs will lower the car very well, and your handling will react accordingly. Directional changes are much quicker, no body roll, and you will find yourself swerving down the street to avoid potholes and bumps. In myby 986rgt - Main Forum
I don't recall you saying wether or not you did, but if you did repair what was causing the fault, the light will not reset on its own.by 986rgt - Main Forum
Can we try to get this going again? I have a bit more free time in life these days, and with the warmer seasons approaching, maybe we can get out there with our cameras some more!by 986rgt - Photo / Quote of the Month
I'm sure Pedro or others can back this up, but I believe it is the restraint system that must be the same, so if I went for a track day, I could not wear a 4 or 5 point harness and expect the instructor to wear a reg seatbelt. I would have to wear a regular belt, but since my immediate plans do not call for tracking my car, I guess I needn't worry yet! Hope we can all get a little TSBL gatheringby 986rgt - Main Forum
It's my DD, and fun car when there's no snow around. I only swapped the drivers seat, passenger remains regular sport seat. Didn't want to lose the ability to put the kids car seat in, plus didn't want to sell my other kidney for another seat! I'm 6' and about 210, and it fits nice and snug, I've even done a 4-500 mile trip in it with one stop, and felt fine when I got there. It's too bad, the seby 986rgt - Main Forum

Possibly brunch at the Hudson House in Cold Spring, NY? So far, I have only 2 possibly answers. I'm gonna send some more emails today and see if I can get a couple definites... Haven't heard back from Gundo or Devin, Rich and JM are maybe's depending on their schedules. Gotta send an email to Maurice and Cliff. With our least favorite season fast approaching, I was wondering who would be up for a drive and maybe lunch on Oct 21st? It's a Sunday. It would be great to see everyone again, it's been to long. Gundo? Rich? J-Bird? Cliff? Maurice? Come on, you guys know you want an excuse to go for a drive...by 986rgt - Main Forum
Also have to take into account the stuff I added over the years too, full RUF body kit, gt3 seat, h&r suspension, aftermarket wheels, stereo bits, hids, not to mention stuff not available anymore, P69 interior, speedster humps, light weight chasis, NO CUpHOLDERS and no glovebox! Your right about the brakes and the motor, and the electronic psm, but the base price has really gone too high ifby 986rgt - Main Forum
Like deviated stitching and a couple painted bits. Considering my 99 cost 56 pretty well loaded the way I wanted it, I guess that I will not be upgrading anytime soon! Chris, the bumper is a RUF RGT piece, when I bought it back in 2000, I think it was about $2k in primer. I did all the fitting and mounting myself and had the local paint shop spray it for about 200. There are some knockoffs out there, but I'm not sure about the quality. I never had to really do anything to thE RUF piece. I got it from RUF in Canada, but there is a us supplier that has to be bettby 986rgt - Main Forum
After a good wash, I used the clay, machine polish 4, and best of show wax. First time using the machine, and I'm sure it could have done a better job, but I still think it came out amazing. The paint had 13 years of swirl marks and some pretty good fine scratches going down the lines of the car from when I used to pull into my carport without rolling up the tarp door. I would just kinda roll onby 986rgt - Main Forum

The design edition cars were 987's and caymans, this car looks like a blacked out 986. I almost traded in my 99 one time for a cayman design edition S, then I realized the price, and what I would get for my beloved 99. I decided a 40k something depreciation hit on my 99 was not worth it! Great looking cars though, very subtle.by 986rgt - Main Forum
I saw that Boxster S on your site for sale, and was wondering about the cryo cleaning of the undercarriage. What does something like that run for one of our cars, the underside looks like it was brand new. I'm assuming cryo cleaning is dry ice blasting too correct?by 986rgt - Main Forum
The end of the article says that the water pump should be treated as a wear item and replaced every 50,000 miles or every 4 years? I've owned my boxster since new in 1999, and have not replaced my water pump, and I've also covered 86000 miles or so. What do you guys think? Should I be running out to replace my pump, or should I just continue running my car? I'm all for preventative maintenance, bby 986rgt - Main Forum
Yep, it's a really nice drive from Albany up into Montreal as long as the authorities stay in the bushes! Unfortunately only one other car is going up too. We've gone up in years past with a pretty good convoy and makes for a good time. Weather looks dubious, not sure if it will be top down or not, but so far they are not calling for rain on race day wich is all that matters!by 986rgt - Main Forum
Got my oil changed, new rear tires going on today, new air filter coming tomorrow, and excited to see how my butt fares in the GT3 seat for the first extended road trip! Any others heading up for the race weekend? Steveby 986rgt - Main Forum
You know the wheel alignment tool in your toolkit? its a kinda cigar sized aluminum rod with threads on one end, buy another from your dealer, they are kinda cheap, remove two of the wheel bolts, thread in the wheel alignment tools, and this will prevent the wheel from falling, it also makes re-installing a snap.
