Hi everyone... well, after moving to the West Coast, my boxster has pretty much been relegated to only sprinted drive alway the pacific ocean. That also means I no longer have use for my PFC 08 compound race pads. So, they're up for sale. I have a set of near new front & rear Performance Friction race pads for the 987S (Boxster S and Cayman S, should also fit 997 Carrera (non-S)) that I noby Cris - Parts for Sale
Hi all, It's been a while... hope everyone is doing well... and I missed everyone at BRBS this year. Well, I am looking for some troubleshooting guidance before I get my '08 Boxster S smog. Now that I'm in California, they take this stuff kinda seriously (not something I'm used in when living in FL). I've tried twice following the BMW drive cycle (2:10 @ cold idle, 3:15 @ 28mph, 15min @ 58mpby Cris - Main Forum
OK, it sounds like a odd request... but I just moved to the bay area (South Bay) and my apartment complex does not allow car washes. I can use the self-service wash bays, but less than ideal if I need detail my car. So, I'm looking for someone in the area with a driveway, hose, and running water to let me detail my Boxster once every couple months. I have my own detailing supplies, etc. In retuby Cris - Main Forum
Yup.. i may do just that - fly-in, rent a car and catch up with everyone, though it'll likely be 2015 at the earliest. Enjoy BRBS 2014by Cris - Main Forum
Well, I'm sadden to say 2013 was my last year at BRBS, at least in my yellow Boxster. An opportunity has come up and I'll be moving to California in sometime in March. While 2013 was only my 4rd BRBS (amounts to some 16 total days?), most of the memorable moments in or near my Boxster were at BRBS, and esp. with the everyone at BRBS. BRBS was one thing I look forward to at beginning of each year,by Cris - Main Forum
- the cross members on the skid plate look rather flimsy. On the 987/6, you could jack up the rear of 987/6 at those members - they are solid pieces of aluminum. The 981's use what appears to be corrugated aluminum/steel/metal piece - not sure you can/want to do the same on the 981. Maybe that's how they are managing weight on the new cars. - the headers look equal-length, which I don't believeby Cris - Main Forum
Look like we have a reasonable discount for the pictures. Well, at least much better rate than the whitewater rafting pictures.by Cris - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
I had set the camera set to take a picture every half second. But because activities were pretty fast moving... i found narrowing down to a picture every 3 to 5 seconds work best. In this case, I use a picture every 3 seconds - had to do that manually on the computer. The 32GB SD card had plenty of room that day @ 5MP. Great to see you also!by Cris - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Another great event by Mary, Nell, Ron & Karl! I arrived home around 7pm this evening... having left LS at 6:30-ish. Pretty un-eventful drive... except for about 4 heavy downpour that we drove through. Good news is that the car got "washed" before it got home. Anyways, I had some time to put the time lapse video together of the 1st hour of the show & shine.. enjoy! http://www.youtube.cby Cris - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
At the upper most part of the windscreen - just left of the RVM. Unless you look for it, the V1 is hard to spot when the top is up or down (visually blocked by the sun visor). I've had ppl sit in my car and most don't notice until they look at the rear view mirror or tinker with visor. I did not install the laser to the rear of the car. There really isn't a good spot for it and most typicallby Cris - Main Forum
Not that I speed on the highway, but when you have a little yellow convertible,.. some LEO will try to make an example out of them. I installed the v1 and LI myself, both hardwired. For the LI, I also added a flashing LED so when the jammer goes off, I get a visual warning also - esp useful when cabin is noisy - when top is down, for example. Had them for about 3 yrs and 17k miles, including 10+ days @ Sebring and 3 yrs worth of BRBS shenanigans - which Kevin knows little about. . I like the Hankooks... they were/are reasonably priced (can get a set of 19's for about $800). @ 17K miles, there was still another 2 - 3k miles in for the rears (again, note the abuse I put on them). Just checking TireRack... and with the rebate on Hankookby Cris - Main Forum
I am due for a new set of tires. I'm currently running Hankook Ventus v12 and they've lasted me about 17k miles, including 12+ track days @ Sebring, couple autox'es and 3 trips from S. FL to BRBS + related shenanigans. They are great tires, seem to last forever.. I probably still have about 2 - 3k street miles before rears are at the wear bars. That also means fronts will last few more 1000's. Anby Cris - Main Forum
QuoteMauriceonLongIsland if you want to splurge, get some Dupont Krytox in there. Regards, Maurice. I've never heard of DuPont Krytox...so I went to look it up... OMG, that is some expensive grease!by Cris - Main Forum
I live in S. FL and batteries have a typical lifespan of about 24 months b/c of the heat. In fact, that's what the battery testers @ Pepboys/Autozone/etc. will print out for you if you ask. I now buy Bosch-brand batteries... b/c they have a 36mos replacement warranty and a 96mos pro-rated warranty. I've had 2 batteries died on me (once in the Boxster (26mos) and the other in my Audi A4 (18mos)) aby Cris - Main Forum
offers exotic rentals. And, according to their policy, no taking their cars to mexico. But nothing about track use. BTW, rental on a 981 Boxster is than a Camero SS. I guess the SS is a more popular choice.by Cris - Main Forum

from the video, the plastic cover should keeps water out (like the 987), but that compartment where batt, air-pre-filter/filter,etc does not appear to be water tight. Makes sense...you need air for the air filter. The weather strip around trunk keeps trunk water from getting into the trunk.by Cris - Main Forum
981 volunteer needed. Cover basic things like oil change, air filter change and.. valve job.by Cris - Main Forum
From changing air filter, to spark plugs, to belts, and putting top in service position... pretty good video. After watching this... I'm not sure if 981 is more complicated to work on, as a DIY'er. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muTR2pWvCuQby Cris - Main Forum
The Cayman spoiler is in near perfect condition (part#987.504.619.00)... the 7 mounting holes are in good, working condition. There is a very small scratch on the right-side (passenger side) of the spoiler (see one of the pictures)... I put the tip of the key to show the scale. Great for converting your Boxster "air-dam" spoiler to the Cayman wing - as seen in my DIY article here: DIY swapping Boby Cris - Parts for Sale

does the manual say what are the different light/status? I have a battery tender brand charger and when it's disconnected, the charger blinks red, charging is steady red, charged is green. IIRC, I had a bad battery with a different trickle charger and even though the batt was dead (won't hold charge), the LED on that charger still show charged or charging. I'll chime in with one picture from my recent trip to western NY. Borrowed my dad's Audi TT for the trip. The TT is not the same as the BS... but more fun than any available rental.by Cris - Main Forum
And between the foliage and roads that twist, rise and fall...It really made me miss living up here. Then again, I'm almost positive I'll feel differently as soon as the temp drops to the 50's. Heading to Niagara Falls tomorrow.... Looking forward to it.by Cris - Main Forum

The 2.0T Q5 is only 0.5 sec slower to 60mph compared to the GLK,... (Audi's 7.0sec vs. MB's 6.5)... So, even with a deficit of 91hp, the Q5 is maybe only 1/4 of a car down in a stop light drag race with the GLK. The 2L turbo in the Q5 makes up for it with 258 ft-lbs of torque @ 1500rpm. If you really want to move faster... you have the option of getting the ECU tuned by APR (or one of the other tby Cris - Main Forum
