Quote986geezer Is there an active group of PCA members or a Boxster group in your area? Sorry to hijack the thread. AKL Definitely an active PCA Group - just had a meeting last night at the Quaker Steak and Lube. Was a little less people last night, because of the rain, but still probably 40+ there. They definitely try to do multiple drive events as well as several in the group do PCA HPby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Quotechrismmm anyone in the atlanta or north georgia area have a Durametric they would be willing to time share or allow me to use? Let me know I am sure we could work out something. I do hw and sw for a large consulting firm. Take care! How long do you need it? I'm in Greer, SC, just up I-85.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
BTW, I don't think this is fully accurate. I think the cable controls whether or not it is Professional versus Enthusiast. You install the same version of the software. Also, you can purchase the Professional WITHOUT the 50ft cable, and it is cheaper, but still a lot more. If you don't think you will need this on multiple cars, enthusiast should be fine, unless you want the coding (see below)by Mark from SC - Main Forum
QuoteMauriceonLongIsland Mark: There is a guy on 986forum who devised a way to repair the slackening of the cable in the window regulator by installing a bicyle brake adjuster mechanism in place of the plastic piece to take up the slack. IIRC, a year later he said it was still working like new. If I find the link, I'll post it here. Regards, Maurice. Thanks Maurice. If you find the link, plby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Thanks Marc, In all likelihood, I'll have somebody else work on it - I don't like to start a project, and not be able to either find the time (or knowledge) to get it done! I'll try the reset and see if that 'helps', but I suspect that won't do it. Markby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Thanks guys for the information. I'll try the Window Limit reset, and see if that helps. The window 'partially' drops - just not the full amount, so maybe that will help. If I have to replace the hardware, any thoughts on how difficult a job that is? I'm fairly mechanical, but just wondering. Some door panels are easy - others are not...by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Just started happening. When I open the driver side door, the window only drops part way down, and sometimes gets 'caught' on the roof when you open the door. If I pop the top latch, it drops correctly, but the door drop isn't right. Any thoughts on what I might need to check/change to fix that? Thanks, Markby Mark from SC - Main Forum
QuoteJohn B in SC Hey - I was there too!! Dang that's a mean looking black Boxster S you've got there Mark!! Loved seeing Miss SC again! Well, they told me the detail guys were going to 'wipe it down' before the event, so I didn't get out the old 'speed shine' on it. Oh well. Your car cleaned up AMAZINGLY well. If you hadn't kept your 'racing numbers' on it, I wouldn't have recognized it!by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about - I didn't take a picture, but the rest of the car looked great - just thought the top, in the open position, looked 'undone'. Other than that, I thought it was nice.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
I was there last night as well - very nice cars. The only thing I didn't really care for on the car was the way the top is when opened. There are big 'gaps' on each side. Just doesn't look 'fit and finished', IMHO. Overall, a great upgrade though. I saw an all blacked-out 2012 S in the parking lot, with the same price tag as the Black S inside. Didn't compare options, but something tells meby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Great write-up. Sorry we didn't get to meet, but I too had a great time at my third BRBS. Hope to see you next year.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
I told my wife, when I saw the progressive commercial, that we would never get one of those. She asked why, and then I said 'Have you ever ridden with me?'. Then she understood! Hope we aren't forced into stuff like that. Big Brother....by Mark from SC - Main Forum
There was a guy at BRBS that has done this to his 1999 Boxster. He originally had the engine 'lower' in the bay, but recently raised it, and I believe put a Cayman 'cover' over the top, to handle the difference in height of the intake. I don't remember all the details, but I'm pretty sure he frequents the board, so should pipe in on this installation. I tell you, the car definitely moves fasteby Mark from SC - Main Forum
I'm fairly new to BRBS (3 years), but think it would be great to have more of the 'early BRBSers' back. Definitely should try to make it back. Of course, if there was a BRBS Open, I'd be all over that, if I can figure out how to get my clubs there!by Mark from SC - Main Forum
A agree - another great event. The colder weather was a surprise, but it was another successful event. Thank you Karl, Nell, Ron and Mary. Thanks for all you do to make the event a success! Missed Pedro, but his likeness did make some special appearances, and was good to see him on the video at the tech sessions! Mark PS. Karl, if you read this, I'm from SC, not CT!by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Sorry you won't be there Pedro, but I guess now somebody else can win the prize for the most Mods to their car. Everybody was a DISTANT second for sure!by Mark from SC - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Agreed - can't risk it on that tire - could blow out at any time.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
I definitely should be checking the oil as soon as I get it back from service. Sometimes I just trust people to do what they should, but that doesn't always happen! I just found it strange to give me a 55 minute countdown! I know, in the past, I've always checked the oil in all my vehicles after they were up to operating temperature.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Well that explains it. I thought the normal procedure (with cars with a dipstick) was to check oil levels with a WARM engine, but sounds like it is the opposite with this one. I'll try it again later, with the engine cool. Thanks for the input. I was just surprised to see almost 1 hour count down! Thanks! Markby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Ok, so it has been a while since I looked closely at the electronic oil level indicator. Since I had recently had the oil changed, I thought I would check it out. So, turned the key one turn and it started flashing, as I remembered. I waited for a while, and then noticed a 'count down' clock to the left of it. It was on 54 minutes, and counting down. The car was already at operating temperatby Mark from SC - Main Forum
Thanks - I bought a short-shift kit a YEAR AGO, and have yet to put it in. This will definitely get me motivated to work on it. Will have to wait until after BRBS though. Markby Mark from SC - Main Forum
So, with this 'extra time' being laid up, are you already planning the next 'Techno' product?by Mark from SC - Main Forum
Thanks - I'll hook it up this next weekend, so I am at least familiar with the screens. I have 6.1.1.5 installed, but have downloaded 6.2.1.1, which was the latest on their site. I suspect, since my Boxster S has basic options, I won't see as many options.by Mark from SC - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Where did you find this list of things you can code? Just would like to take a look.by Mark from SC - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Wow - sorry to hear that Pedro. Get well soon!by Mark from SC - Main Forum

Great - looking forward to it. See you in about 3 weeks!by Mark from SC - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
Ok, so I have the professional version of the Durametric cable/software, so I can bring it with me. However, I've not really done ANYTHING with it, so may take a little time to figure things out, but if you are around for the tech session on Saturday, I'll be glad to hook it up, and let's take a look at it. Would love to learn more about what it can do. I've just not had the time to dig into iby Mark from SC - Blue Ridge Boxster Summit (BRBS)
I've had the Hankook V12s on a couple of cars and have been impressed with them. Stick very well. Reasonable price as well!by Mark from SC - Main Forum
These cars have already taken a big hit in price, and with the items you listed, you will take an even bigger hit if you trade it in. If you love the car, and it is in such good shape, financially it would probably make sense to fix her up. Of course, you never know what else may go tomorrow. However, if you just want to update the car, then go for it. You won't probably get much for yours.by Mark from SC - Main Forum
