... S brakes, they've just been painted red. The S/996 brakes have a larger diameter cross-drilled rotors. Nothing wrong with the brakes it has, but just to make sure they're not selling you something that's not there. Happy Boxstering, Pedroby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum

... extensively, I've come to the conclusion that piston rod #6 broke due to excessive heat buildup from oil starvation. Piston 6 is the farthest away from the oil spray. When the engine failed it had very close to 200,000 miles, with over 20,000 of those being track miles at high-speed tracks such as Sebring and Homestead-Miami. Since I don't want to have another engine failure any time soon I wby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum
The model year 2000 was the first 986S produced. The model year 2004 was the last 986 produced. MY 2000 986S had 252 HP with 3.2L engine. MY 2004 986 had 255 HP with 2.7L engine. I think the newer '04 is the better choice. Good luck with your choice. Let us know. Happy Boxtering, Pedroby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum

... optimized to a particular gasoline octane rating depending on their compression. Modern cars have very accurate knock sensors that can alter the engine's timing to retard ignition so you really can't hurt the engine by using lower octane ratings. What happens is that by retarding ignition you loose power because the volume of mixture won't be used to its fullest. Even though you're "saving" mby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum

... oil to the outside of the engine, not into the cats if the tubes crack or the O-Rings are damaged, but I highly doubt that they caused your error code. If you had an excessive amount of oil into the cats it's easily determined by inspecting the throttle body and air intake plenums for evidence of engine oil. This is a fairly common occurrence, generally due to the failure of the Air/Oil Separby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum
I used to go to the 12 Hrs. Not anymore. I now go to the 48 Hrs at Sebring, the largest Porsche Club Race in the World. The 12 Hrs is a mad house. It always coincides with Spring Break, so there are a million kids all over. It is very expensive, restrictive as far a parking and where you can go unless you have a Paddock Pass it's a hard race to follow. There's also the hotel shortage. ... I didn't change the heads. I changed the engine block to one from a 2.7 liter motor. This block is the same as the old one. It has the same bore as the 2.5 (85.5 mm), but the crankshaft is different and produces a longer piston stroke (from 72.0 mm to 78.0 mm), thus creating an additional 200 cc of displacement. I didn't shave the heads, just had them pressure tested and cleaned, so my comby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum
