Also, Porsche (and most of all of the other manufacturers) train their techs to be parts replacers, not diagnosticians and repairers (on the newer models that's more efficient). I've gotten 60,000 from the fronts, but there's also another issue with the Aftermarket Vs the OEMs. The Aftermarket Zimmermans are not treated with an oxidizing-inhibiting coat on the hat and inside the cooling vanes. The OEMs are. This makes for: 1.- a better looking hat, but more importantly ... 2.- a cooler running rotor because it gets much better air circulation I'm sold on OEMs and won'tby Pedro (Odessa, FL) - Main Forum

Even though Zimmerman manufactures the rotors for Porsche, the ones you can buy for $100 or less will last you less than half of the life of the OEMs. The Porsche rotors are made to Porsche specs and standards. A few years ago we tested them to see if it was true. Two Boxsters at Sebring. There are also several other alternatives online that carry semi-decent aftermarket parts. But, on brakes, on a street Porsche I ALWAYS go with OEM. ... are usually self-adhesive pads that stick to the back side of the pads and have two inserts that fit into the opening of the pistons. The procedure to replace is the same, but when you spread the pads back from the rotor, if you can't easily pull them out, your car probably has the pads. You DO NOT have to remove the calipers. The car doesn't store that info (average rpm). It tells you how many hours the engine has been running. It tells you how many miles it's been driven, and also does the math and shows you the average speed. It shows how many cycles the engine has run at the rev limiter and how many cycles over the rev limiter (such as with a missed downshift). The last tow can tell you a lot about driving style. Knowing that the average speed of a used Boxster should be 29 mph, if you're in the market for one in the future, and you hook it up to a PST-II or PIWIS and it says average speed 49 mph , that's a big CAVEAT EMPTOR! Using a fine soldering iron and some surplus plastic material weld the broken piece back or add material and then whittle to size with a knife or dremel. ... the CLU (Central Locking Unit), not the Immobilizer, is wet. Try removing the driver's seat and then the CLU. Disconnect it from it's harness, remove it from the car and open the case. Remove the printed circuit board and dunk it in a shallow recipient and cover it with isopropyl alcohol. To me, the CDR 210 is a MUCH better looking unit than the 220. The 210 looks more modern, even though it predates the 220. The 210 was first introduced on the 1997 993 and 986. The 220 was introduced on the 1999 996 and 986. Audio wise they are both as good (or as bad) as the other. I also like the removable faceplate on the 210. ... the schematics for that hard-wiring. My OEM radio is also a 210, which I pulled in favor of a 220, just because the 220 has the AUX IN and the 210 doesn't.
