Thanks Carlos. I actually am in the habit of flushing my Boxster yearly so I am always current for DE events. But this is my son's recent purchase and despite the CPO paperwork we do not know when it was done last. While the fluid we were able to flush at the rears looks good the bleeder issue concerns me.by Vince - Main Forum
My son bought a CPO 2014 Carrera S from the Porsche dealer in Chicago. We have been going through the car, performing all the services to establish a new service dateline. We were performing the brake flush today. Starting at the rear, some of the bleed screws were hard to break loose, but did release and we bled those calipers. Moving to the front, the right front bleed screws were frozen.by Vince - Main Forum
I read about the six-stroke a while back. Though whether it will save our beloved Boxsters and Caymans is an open question. Porsche has themselves backed into a corner since they apparently can't extend the current Boxster/Cayman (and Macan) because of an EU cybersecurity requirement. Porsche chose not to make those platforms compliant thinking they could avoid the cost by bring the electric rby Vince - Main Forum
The EU and German gov't have been leaning on the European automakers really hard, which surely influenced Porsche's decision. The automakers are all paying the price now. VW group just announced the closing of three plants in Germany (something they have never done in the 87 year history of the company), layoffs of 10,000 workers, etc. EVs aren't selling as well as hoped and a lot of what isby Vince - Main Forum
Problem solved! The dealer asked me to bring car back so I could work with the techs to figure out the noise. The problem was gravel that had worked its way into gaps around the inner bushing of the Lower Control Arm. It was so imbedded it wasn't easy to see. They had to loosen some of the various pivots (marking the eccentrics to retain alignment) to dislodge the stuff. Periodically I try tby Vince - Main Forum
Thanks Laz. Mine definitely sounds metallic. I put the car on jack stands so I could remove the pan under the fwd mount. Can't see much but the rubber buffers (washers) on each side of the bushing seem loose. Not sure that tells me anything. I did notice when lowering the car a distinct click sound on the right side. I had my son help me so I could feel the various suspension links, etc. Wby Vince - Main Forum
Since my garage is "down" during the remodel I took the Boxster to the local dealer. They diagnosed the noise as "excess play" of the "left and right track arms". Looking up the part number, they replaced the trailing arms, Part #981 331 043 03. The car still has the noise. I haven't taken it back yet because I want to get under the car and look around some more. The noise can be hard to repby Vince - Main Forum
I looked up what I think you need in the Porsche PET. If a 986 I think you need a 6 x 30mm; if a 987 a 6 x 20mm. Not sure about the thread pitch. Try an auto parts store and buy bolts in both fine and coarse pitch. Hopefully that helps. Otherwise, call a dealer.by Vince - Main Forum
Well I gave my rubber mallet a good workout but everything seems solid. I'm going to make a short video of the car crossing a bump in my driveway. I'll post it. One thing I have learned from watching Jeff Richardson's video on replacing the front mount. The 981 appears to be more difficult that the 986. The routing of the coolant pipes requires removing the hoses that connect the pipes to thby Vince - Main Forum
2014 Boxster S with Dynamic transmission mounts. I'm trying to narrow down what might be causing a noise when crossing speed bumps. As the rear exits the speed bump I am getting a "clank"noise. I had my son drive over a speed bump while I observed from the outside. It sounds like something is banging on the exhaust system. I tried finding something loose, etc. in that area but no luck. Mine is a 2014 Boxster S. I do it through the wheel well. I don't know what to say except I am used to working in tight spots and I have a ton of tools.by Vince - Main Forum
I have removed the coils on my 981 to change spark plugs twice over the years - I was able to remove all the coils without difficulty. I'm surprised to read that #4 requires a dealer visit. I am well equipped with various tools - maybe that explains why.by Vince - Main Forum

International rules limit the amount of fuel that can be in the fuel tanks to 10% of capacity. The rule has been in place for years. The fixed firefighting systems are designed around this and other rules so that "fueled" vehicle fires can be effectivly extinguished. Also, there are fixed gasoline vapor detection systems in place that monitor the cargo spaces so the crew can respond quickly toby Vince - Main Forum
Well, every class of vessel that carries commercial freight is a cargo vessel. As I stated above most fires do not originate in the "cargo hold" and I probably should have qualified that my statement is specific to RO/ROs. RO/RO cargo holds are wide open decks - think underground parking garage. While some vessels back in the early development of RO/ROs could be called "roll on roll off generaby Vince - Main Forum
As someone with 40 years in the maritime industry (25 sailing and managing RO/ROs), cargo hold fires are not "common". Most shipboard fires start in the machinery spaces, the galley, sometimes in the quarters. We probably won't ever know from the mainstream press where the fire started, what was done to fight the fire, etc. The flag state and classification society for the vessel will do invesby Vince - Main Forum
Our son-in-law bought a 2021 718 Cayman S last year. I've drven it quite a bit and I found it to be a wonderful car. I don't thingk the exhaust note is a deal breaker at all. What is different about the sound is that the four seems more "relaxed" than the more "busy" six and speed builds deceptively fast if you tend to drive by "sound".by Vince - Main Forum

So sorry to hear Pedro. Hopefully all will return to good health soon and maybe will have enhanced immunity. God bless you all!by Vince - Main Forum
Just to close the loop on this thread. I took it back to the dealer. Pedro was correct that it was a microswitch issue. They determined that the microswitch on the driver's side was defective - part #981-561-943-01. The tough thing about this particular switch is the top must be removed. The switch had to come out of Germany, which took about one month. I was charged for the part; the dealeby Vince - Main Forum
All. Thanks for all the advice and information. My Footwell Lamps are working. It is a long story - the condensed version is - the Front Electronics Control Unit had been miscoded at some point. I dropped the car off at the dealer to complete a repair to my convertible top. I asked them to look at the light issue while it was there. They recoded the module and everything works as Guether deby Vince - Main Forum
Laz - those work as expected.by Vince - Main Forum
Thanks for the responses from everyone. Laz - I do not have the "by opening door" option to select. My options are Orientation, Ambient and Fade Out. I found that discrepancy between my car and the Owner's Manual early in this quest. Guenter - thanks. I never noticed a correlation between the reading lamps and the footwell lamps. I'll check mine.by Vince - Main Forum
Question for Laz. Do you have the Footwell Lights? If so, how do they function, i.e. illuminate when door open, etc? That is another missing piece of the puzzle in my sources.by Vince - Main Forum
