Nice little presentation of the new 911 (991). i'm starting to like it and can't wait to see it in the flesh. can anyone tell me when we should start to see these in n. america? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4Bqo_cUMkA&feature=player_embedded#!by frogster - Main Forum
QuoteBobtesa As for getting the power at high rpms, I knew that would be the down fall of the Honda 2000. A great little car, but not for every day drivers. I drove a friend's and he just about s--t when I took 2nd up to 4k before shifting. He shifted at 2,500! I know so many people like that. I was in an old VW bug once, four people in the car, and the driver had it in THIRD GEAR going up aby frogster - Main Forum
380 HP at what RPM though? No good if it's only at 9k. And what about torque?by frogster - Main Forum
QuoteMarcW. Oh, I have some Top Gear DVDs that come in the Top Gear magazine but I do not have anything that plays the format of the DVD. Must be that Euro DVD format. . The "format" of all DVDs is the same. That's what makes them a DVD. Could be a zone issue. N America is zone 1, Europe is zone 2, etc. Players, even those in computers only allow you to play your local zone although they can beby frogster - Main Forum
Does it have to be a boxster to get those 10 HP?by frogster - Main Forum
Glad you finally experienced PDK. Turns out it's not so bad, eh?by frogster - Main Forum
we weren't going 160 MPH though. hard to say how fast we were going though but it was impressive. i almost puked though i spun the boxster doing a little over 60 MPH on a track. very interesting to experience. made me much more humble a driver, that's for sure. when it starts to go and you can't catch it, you just watch the world spin around you.by frogster - Main Forum
there are instructions in the owner's manual on how to raise the top manually. it involves disconnecting the top from the gearing and motor. Not hard if you follow the instructions.by frogster - Main Forum
makes me really sad to see a (seemingly) nice old car smashed like that. but i guess it's not that bad. it was a chevy.by frogster - Main Forum
i wanted to rebuild my motor mount like pedro did/does but couldn't find anyone willing to press that part out. but of course that was in swissyland where they don't like doing things like that.by frogster - Parts for Sale
I'm not sure if you guys are implying that the singer is a 993 or just stating that you like the 993. I love the 993 best of all 911s as well. The singer is a 964 though.by frogster - Main Forum
if you magnify the picture, there are many things that arouse my suspicion; the horizontal line to the 7 is lower than the rest of the line. the 7 itself looks lower it also looks different than the other numbers i call foul.by frogster - Main Forum
one of my complaints about my MY2000 986 was that 2nd gear was too high. coming out of a tight turn on a winding alpine road was often too fast for 1st and too slow for 2nd. wonder what this would be like. in any case, i would get a PDK without any hesitation. have you driven one yet guenter?by frogster - Main Forum
I don't understand what driving so little has to do with switching to a 911. while reading the post, i thought you were going to say that since you're only driving 3k miles/year that you were going to sell the boxster. but you're really saying that you want to get a 911, or are at least toying with the idea. i am obviously biased but if i still had my boxster, i don't think that i would want to sby frogster - Main Forum
wow, i guess things have changed. makes me feel even older still; "young man, i remember the days when an entire porsche engine would be assembled by one personā¦"by frogster - Main Forum

in switzerland your license plate stays with you from car to car so if you have a really low number, that means that you've been there a long time (and that you're old ) low numbers are highly sought after which is exactly the opposite of in the UK where the newest numbers are sought after since they show that the car is new. when i bought the boxster, i paid a little bit more to get plates thatby frogster - Main Forum
IIRC they refer to the term as "production depth" or something similar. Our tour guide said that VW, for example, was something like 80%, i.e. VW manufactures 80% of the car themselves. Porsche was rather low, below 20% if my memory serves me correctly but that figure could be way off. One thing that I do remember clearly though was that even though the pistons, connecting rods, caps, etc. were mby frogster - Main Forum

we were in NYC and DC. It was my wife's, uh, well let's just say "multiple of ten" birthday on the fourth of june and she wanted to go to NY. besides, can you imagine how it would make me feel going to a gathering where all these happy people are talking about their fantastic cars while I had to leave mine behind in swissyland? it's bad enough seeing them driving around vancouver. my heart stillby frogster - Main Forum
"The squeal may arise from the brake hardware being dirty." more precisely from brake dust between the piston and the pad. most people think that it's the pad against the rotor that squeaks but that's more of a grinding, rubbing sound than the high pitched squeel that occurs under light braking. if the sound goes away when you brake heavily, then it's the dust between piston and pad. i used toby frogster - Main Forum
QuoteBoxsterBob - San Carlos Apparently he received at least 23 tickets in the past 13 years,10 for speeding. He was also busted for DUI in 2005. He had a .19 BAC and they estimated he was doing 130 -140 mph! Does it take dying for a person to permanently lose their license? it's a shame that the passenger was killed but thankfully no other innocent people were harmed. that's really the worst when some jackass smashes his car and wipes out a family and walks away with a few scrapes and bruises.by frogster - Main Forum
"whether a man with a Porsche is more attractive to women than a man with lesser car like a Honda Civic" From my experience, I've met women who have been, ahem, "aroused" by my nice car to the point of inviting me up for a "drink." On the other hand, I've had women tell me that they would never get in that "thing" because it was too much. I believe that it is clear that some women are turned on bby frogster - Main Forum
