that looks a little better! but those double yellow lines are killer.by frogster - Main Forum
35 MPH speed limit??? double yellow centerline? may as well drive a station wagon from the 60s through there. the thing about the mountain roads in europe is that usually the limit is 80 KPH (50 MPH) but there's never anyone to stop you from going, um, a little bit faster. this is the Route Napoleon that goes from around Grenoble to Cannes. I've driven it a number of times. it's a blast. i'm notby frogster - Main Forum
here are some examples from guenter's link to a video of someone driving a pcar over that pass in austria. this is what i mean by a tight curve in second. it sounds like the car is in 2nd coming out of those hairpins and it sounds to me like it's pretty low in the rev range. as i mentioned, this is totally subjective and is only my opinion, not "fact." these links go directly to the hairpins thatby frogster - Main Forum
QuoteGary in SoFL Yes, there are expensive, after market, transmission gear replacement solutions for the "issue", but why? QuoteJMstamford,ct Why do suggest the gear is too long? in my personal experience when driving on tight, mountain roads, second gear was most often what gear i went into curves in. first was far to low to shift down into let alone accelerate out of. coming out of the curveby frogster - Main Forum
i remember the tall gears bugging me in my boxster. i always wondered if there was any place that could rebuild a transmission with shorter gears.by frogster - Main Forum
i would love to drive that road.by frogster - Main Forum
there is conveniently no mention of price. obviously an exact price would be difficult to establish but they don't even mention an estimate? me thinks that it will be majorly expensive otherwise it would have been done ages ago.by frogster - Main Forum
QuoteCarreraLiciousAh, ok. I don’t think you’ll have a been there done that feeling once you fire up that flat 6 again and drive it a few minutes.... it's not that i wouldn't enjoy it. i would for sure without a question. the issue is simply the cost of that enjoyment. like i said, it's the cost/benefit, or in this case, the cost/enjoyment ratio that is not good. Quotedennisafrompa I'm baffled with the red reflections too, as they only appeared when uploaded to host. when i zoomed in, i figured it was a reflection of a red neon sign. is that possible?by frogster - Main Forum
QuoteCarreraLicious You should come back into the fold. The 986 and 987 line are super reasonably priced now in the used markets. What are you waiting for? basically the cost:benefit ratio just doesn't work for me. plus it's a little bit of "been there, done that" feelling. there are very few roads to have fun on in a boxster on here where i live. add the cost of insurance for a car that i woby frogster - Main Forum
i was baffled by the red reflections on the driver's door. that is one sweet looking car. i've always loved the cayman. if i were going to spend the money, i'd have a tough time deciding between a boxster and a cayman. thanks for posting dennis.by frogster - Main Forum

QuoteCarreraLicious You’re thinking of Dennis in SE PA. He had the Boxster SE that had failed IMS and then moved to a Mustang and then a Cayman. ah, thanks. at least i got the "Dennis" part right! do you remember who it was that bought the Nissan Z?by frogster - Main Forum
QuoteGuenter in OntarioI know that if I were in the market for a new Porsche, the GTS 4.0 is the only model that I would buy. my feelings as well although US$100k+ with a few options. ouch.by frogster - Main Forum
was it you who sold the boxster and got a nissan Z? did you have a mustang bullit for a while? or am i thinking of someone else? in any case, congratulations. sounds like a nice car. is kevin hart "kevin in ny" or something similar? haven't seen him around these parts for eons.by frogster - Main Forum

i have often pondered this question. for me, the day you order it would be conception. getting the VIN is just confirmation of the pregnancy. i think that rolling off the assembly line would be the technical equivalent to giving birth (but less painful). or would getting trucked to the dealer be included as part of "delivery" with birth actually being when you drive it off the lot? i think the laby frogster - Main Forum
this could be a long shot but i would try removing the power to reset the device. since the other functions still work, we know it isn't the unit. don't forget that even when the car is off, the head unit is still getting power. my mother's cable box has lost the sound twice now. the only thing that restores it is unplugging it and leaving it overnight. 5 minutes doesn't seem to be enough. if i wby frogster - Main Forum
