The person that fixed my car is a stereo guy not really a mechanic. As a side note he does have 2 lotus' in his shop. An Exige and an Evora, I think.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Not a Porsche speciality shop but they do a lot of Porsches there as well as other high end european cars.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Just to give an update, I contacted Jamie, who used to be on Pedro's board in the beginning and asked him if he could look at it. He and his assistant looked at it and adjusted the cables and realigned a bracket (not to say it was quick, because it did take all morning). That was it, it shifts much easier into reverse and the 2nd to 3rd shift flows nicely now. I am quiet happy now, and have a mby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Yes I had a shop look at it and they tried adjusting it.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Hello All, I have a B&M short shifter that no longer wants to work well. Reverse is a pain to get into and when it is really hard to engage reverse I have to hit really swing at the lever to make it go over to 3rd. I was looking at either a cheap no name from that place in south america lol, or? How is the Schnell shifter? Anyone have any recommendations? Thanksby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
It has been done but probably not for 60k miles or so. I will check this out. Thanksby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Hello everyone, I think my clutch is starting to go. When I start it up cold and put it in first, it is hard to engage it cleanly and it stutters and little. Sometimes I stall it. This will not happen once it is warmed up. I have not taken it to a shop yet but thought I would ask here first. The old girl is also having a compressor issue. At first i thought it might be the fan because it soby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Here is the latest pic I have.by Michael SYS Driver - 10 years of PB
This trip began over 20 years ago. It was 1999 and I was looking to get a new car fun car and 4 different manufactures had contenders, BMW, Honda, Audi, and Porsche. I read all of the reviews, and got the opinions of all of my friends and family, regardless if I asked or not. I even had a friend tell me if I got that car I could not drive everyone to lunch. I looked at him quizzically and saiby Michael SYS Driver - 10 years of PB
My emblem on back is not painted so I will try the acetone first. Thanks everyoneby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
So I had to get a new key fob and I have transferred all the pieces but 1, the Porsche emblem. Does anyone know (I'm sure someone does) how to get the emblem off of the back of the key fob? Other then with a hammer.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Yeah, i guess I will go with old faithful. Thanksby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
That is a nice car. I would look really good in yellow.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Hello, I did a search but I didn't see anything, but do people on here have any kind of roadside assistance and if so who do you get it with? My car is getting up there in miles and years and I was thinking I should get some. I know there are others out there besides AAA but was curious on everyone's thought on this was. TIAby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
I have a '01 so I guess I will take it apart and look. It must have happened when the key fob popped open, damn it. Thanksby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
So I did a search but did not find anything on this, but my key is sliding out of the key fob when I try to take it out of the ignition. Well actually the key fob stays in my hand as the key stays in the ignition. I have found videos on reprogramming the key and sliding the key into the fob, but how can I keep it in the fob. I don't want to glue it since it is supposed to come out, but it shouby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Yeah, i just noticed on my drivers side started doing this on my '01 S. Not really bad but noticeable. .by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
I'm pretty sure the answer is that I need to get a new locking mechanism but just want to make sure. When I lock the car the gas door locking mechanism makes a very loud clunk when it locks the door. It does not make any noise when I unlock it though. I did spray some lubricant in the hole where the black rod comes out, but that didn't help much. Thanks Pedro, I knew you would know the answer, but even the GT2, GT3, and turbo? I would have thought those would be different..by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Hi, Does anyone know of a site that will tell me if an oil filter fits my '01 S what other 911's this would fit as well? My brother has a friend and has a bunch of oil and fuel filters and wanted to know if I wanted them. I asked what year and sub-model he had, but my brother did not know. So does anyone know of a site that would tell me? Thanks, Michael Still driving my '01 S daily.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
So I'm up in Bakersfield, CA and it might not be the place everyone wants to go, but the roads up here are incredible. These are some of the best roads I have ever driven on. Going up to lake Isabella has some great roads and the roads on north side of the grapevine has beautiful rolling hills then into the forest, just breathtaking. I do have an issue on some of the roads, cattle is grazing oby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
yes, I agree but there are a few more places where I am and this place was the opposite direction of work. I will not go there anymore. From a really expensive oil change to this debacle I am done with them.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
QuotePedro (Odessa, FL) "cost of the grease and clamps is negligible when compared with the total cost including labor, I would eat theist of the parts and never let the customer know. The cost of the grease and the clamps may be $8.00 max," Pedro That's it what I thought especially since it is costing me a bit to do this and they want to charge me $20 extraby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Posted this on the wrong section, sorry Pedro and admin. So my boxster needed new CV boots on both sides of the rear and I go to a shop, they order it then tell me they didn't look at the kit but it does not come with grease or boot clamps and I need to pay extra for that. I didn't think about it till much later but I think any good shop should have this grease on hand, and really it is not myby Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
I agree, but I had to do both front and rear struts. Damn it was quick and easy. Also I had an issue with the front locking mechanism was hard to push down to get it locked. Sprayed a little lubricant into the slot, and WOW what a difference. It is so easy to push to lock now.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
So I have an 01 and it has just broken the 100k barrier. Not bad for a 18 year old car.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
I just replaced it this weekend. Damn it was hard to get to.by Michael SYS Driver - Main Forum
Hi all, I'm hoping there might be a fix but.. Some of lights/LED'S on the display no longer work, so when it displays some parts of a few letters no longer displayed. This makes it quite annoying when I hear a song and I want to know who and what it is. Is there a diy fix for this or do I have to get a new head unit? I know I could use it like a retro radio but...
